"Keir Starmer torn to shreds by ex-Army chief over defence spending 'U-turn'"
The fool is practically presenting himself as a wartime PM, but is coming across more Captain Mainwaring than Winston Churchill.
He is saying that Britain must be 'battle ready' and that 'every citizen has a role to play'. It's just more empty words like 'smash the gangs' or '1.5 million new homes will be built'
The target is that 3% of GDP wil be spent on defence by 2034, but he cannot say how the Treasury will be able to fund it. It's an ambition rather than a commitment, ie not gonna happen.
The former head of the British army, Lord Dannatt, says "It's a little bit like saying in 1938 to Adolf Hitler ‘please don't attack us until 1946 because we are not going to be ready."
Kill off pensioners and the sick/disabled, by either starving or freezing them to death (preferably both)…£££ problem sorted.
He’ll have all those fit and UK patriotic immigrants voluntarily fighting for King and Country so recruitment won’t be a problem either.
It would be one way of sorting out mass immigration...fight for the country....or leave.

Call me cynical, but I could see those dinghies, full to capacity, heading back to France. If these immigrants were of a mind to fight for anything they would still be in their homeland bearing arms.
Let's be honest, they don't come here to uphold and/or defend our freedom/traditions/values etc.

Odd how so many flee from 'danger', yet leave their wives and kids behind.

“ Changes to the winter fuel payment to allow more people to receive it will be in place this year, the chancellor has said.
Rachel Reeves said more people would qualify for the allowance "this winter", however details of the changes and who will be eligible remain unclear.
Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer has said he wanted to widen the threshold for winter fuel in a U-turn on one of his government's first major policies, but failed to confirm on Wednesday how many would now get it.
The payment, worth up to £300 to help with energy bills during the coldest months, was paid only to those on pension credit last year, but the policy was widely blamed for Labour's poor local election results
Sir Keir did not confirm during Prime Minister's Questions who would be eligible for the revised policy, having previously admitted in a recent BBC interview that clarity was needed as soon as possible.
Sir Keir told Parliament that the reason the government could expand the number of people receiving the payment was because Labour had "stabilised the economy". “ https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/czr8e5g5vp8o
My arse. Nothing to do with poor local election results, no siree.
There’s that word “clarity” again. This bloke is a complete waste of space.

I think he is as confused as the pensioners as to who will get it, when, and what criteria should be met.

I think he is confused generally. Surprised he manages to dress himself each morning, that’s assuming he doesn’t have someone doing it for him.
If there hadn’t been the backlash on this I wouldn’t have been surprised to read the OAPs getting Pension Credit would have been targeted next. Got to pay for all those immigrants somehow.

More bad news for Reform. They have lost yet more credibility as their UK chairman Zia Yusef who donated funds and endorsed the party for some time has abruptly resigned. He claimed he sees "no future" for himself in such a party and also declared " getting the party elected was now a waste of his time". This followed new Reform MP (name I forget) rather randomly challenging PM Kier Starmer to "ban the Burka" in the middle of PM questions. Yusef, a self confessed proud British Muslim labelled her statement "dumb".I pity Yusef (who had been a member of Reform for 11 months) if Farage somehow duped him into believing the customs of non white religions would be honestly welcome or respected in such a white extremist party.

More like Yusef has discovered that all his money doesn't necessarily mean he's in charge.

To be fair Digger, I think he knew that. The majority of the electorate that votes for Reform worships Farage. I don't see the appeal personally but that's neither here or there. The problem for Reform is he made them look credible, and was personable and genuinely passionate about the party when grilled by political media. Reform only have 4 MP's, they can't grow as a party and be taken seriously if their members keep leaving.

By worship, do you mean that Reform voters have Alan Partridge style shrines dedicated to him, with candles and photos? Or could it be he is just seen as a better choice than the others? Given that the others include Starmer and some kind of woke vegan lesbian running the Greens, it is not a difficult choice. Granted, Kemi is very likeable, but she is head of a dead party. The Tories are like a football team that have been relegated from the Prem right down to the bottom league - it will take them years and years to rebuild before they become a force again and get back to the top.
Reform only have a handful of MPs at this time, but you must have had a news blackout for the past 11 months if you are unaware how that will change at the next GE

Reform will probably snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.
They recently had the issue with one of their popular MPs, Rupert Lowe, being investigated which I think was spearheaded by Zia Yusef. Now he has left the party. This is a theme with Nigel Farage's parties. They all seem to collapse into infighting and splinter factions.
I think if the Labour Party eventually end up replacing Keir Starmer near to the next election they might be re-elected. Starmer is becoming increasingly toxic so he may not fight the next election as leader.

He bought his way into the Reform party. Nothing new about that. But there are rumblings about him being a 'Trojan Horse'.
Do you remember another person who was personable and genuinely passionate about his party?

And why Yusuf's shock horror at banning the burqa in the UK? It's banned in countries all across Europe. Did he stamp his trotters over that?
Full face coverings are not part of our culture and what they represent is female oppression. I think there's a need to respect the country of origin's culture. If you go live in a muslim country you adhere to their laws and culture and that's how it should be. It's called integration. You can walk around in the UK wearing next to nothing because it's not part of our culture to control what people wear. But there are certain countries you wouldn't be allowed to do that. And if you don't like it, then don't live there.

If it's not part of our culture to control what people wear, why ban an item of clothing that women wear for different reasons?
I think limiting where and when it should be worn would be more reasonable.

We wouldn't be able to walk in Muslim country in shorts, etc. We would respect that. They should respect our dress code.

More bad news for reform, part 2. Labour have won an impressive victory in the Scottish by election. When it comes down to it Reform are not a credible party to vote for and the electorate shows this despite the right wing media trying to insist otherwise.
