What possible good would it be for the PM to want this country to come under Islamic rule? I agree he has to get a grip on immigration, especially illegal immigration, and the authorities have to start taking hate speech, which goes on in some mosques, seriously. They are quick enough to arrest and imprison hate speech when it's against other religions and races....it has to work both ways.
That's what the Shah of Iran must have thought Until it happened
Van Jones (nor I) created the phrase. It's widely used now, but here it is in use since you don't seem to be aware of it..
Well, he used the phrase in context "No Jews,No News" in an appropriate context.
He didn't explain why this is so, which is what I wanted to know. I wanted to know WHY the Jewish community were considered so newsworthy.
I hope I'm not being insensitive and if you're not comfortable explaining why that's cool. Like I say I learnt all about the War in school and what happened to them and would have thought great sympathies would be extended to them but from what you and Digs were suggesting that isn't the case.
I'll ask Google AI which in fairness is what I should have done in the first place! Thanks anyway Madders.

If anyone's interested it replied. It seems simply that globally, people are just more interested in hearing about Jewish conflicts.
The perception that Jewish news receives more media focus than other global atrocities can be attributed to several factors:
Historical Context
The historical significance of anti-Semitism and the Holocaust has profoundly influenced media narratives. Events related to Jewish history, especially those involving systemic persecution, often resonate deeply in global memory and consciousness.
Audience Engagement
Media outlets often respond to audience interest. High public engagement around Jewish issues, particularly related to Israel or anti-Semitism, can prompt more coverage. Similarly, global atrocities may not resonate similarly with audiences, leading to less media emphasis.
When significant events or conflicts occur, such as the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, they are often amplified in the media due to their complexity, historical significance, and the involvement of international politics. These events can dominate headlines, especially when they evoke strong emotional responses.

He did nothing wrong to be arrested. They said it was a terror incident because he wouldn't give his phone pin. How ridiculous is that? They want to bang him up again, any excuse will do. So much for justice in this country.

Several people have been critically injured, including a young girl, on the French island of Ile d'Oléron after a man deliberately drove his car into them.
He shouted out "allahu akbar" as he was tasered and arrested.
I don't know if this qualifies as a terrorist attack or not.

It's definitely a terror attack. They will say it's his mental health though. People are being attacked here, France, Germany and.no one does anything.
I'm sure the powers that be want this, that's why they are letting them in!

I don't know why the authories distinguish between terrorism and mental health, as it seems to me that all terrorists are mental by default.

I think he said he’s got another court case sometime next year.

I have a feeling there’ll be more with Christmas coming up.
I am disgusted to learn some Remembrance Service(s) are being cancelled due to safety concerns. Can’t even openly honour those who fought and died for our freedom. And still Starmer is bending over backwards to accommodate them. Makes me so angry.

That's true with many crimes. I'd say all child molesters have some sort of mental health issues, but we don't send them to an asylum. We send them.to jail..
Heck, even the guy that shot Charlie Kirk had mental issues, but he won't be able to use that as a defense.

I can’t find Digger’s(iirc) original post to update so leaving it here if that’s okay…
“Arizona man who left his two-year-old daughter to die in a hot car while he watched p*rn and played video games, found deceased.
Christopher Scholtes was set to report to prison on Wednesday, but never arrived at the hearing.
Scholtes had pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and was set to spend up to 30 years in prison.
His death is being investigated as a su*cide. Scholtes's 2-year-old daughter passed away on July 9, 2024. She was found unresponsive in the backseat of a car. Temperatures peaked at 109 that day.
His other children, aged 5 and 9, said their father kept them in the car regularly, saying "he got distracted by playing his game and putting his food away.
"I told you to stop leaving them in the car. How many times have I told you?" a text from Scholtes' wife said as their daughter was being rushed to the hospital.”
The prospect of a heavy sentence rather than the death of his child I reckon. Coward.

It could be cowardice, but I suspect it was mixed with a horrendous guilt, knowing he was the cause of his little girls death in such an unforgivable and pointless way.

As so many evil acts are committed by people claiming to have 'mental health issues'...maybe more old-fashioned asylums should be created again.
I have a feeling the mental health claims would go down considerably.

His wife, a doctor, also endangered their kids’ lives, imo, she knew and complained about his behaviour. They appeared to have a good standard of living so why not hire a nanny/childminder if she were that concerned? In court she described him as a “pillar of the community” yet…
“ In text conversations in the months leading up to the death, Erika talked about Scholtes and what she said was his alcoholism, former cocaine use and dangerous behaviors with respect to the children.
“You haven’t shown me you can stop putting the girls in danger or not treat me badly,” texted Erika on March 11. “Even yesterday, you drove home drunk with two minors. You drink to excess every time. You can never have just one. I’ve been asking for three years to cut back and it’s actually gotten worse.”
They caused public distaste by requesting and being granted permission to take a holiday after the child’s death. They moved into a $1.6 million home… yeah I get “life goes on”, “fresh start” and all that.
Guilt or coincidence?…
“ Scholtes died on the same day he was to turn himself in following a court hearing, after which he would have remained in custody until his sentencing on Nov 2” *
*Misprint perhaps as I’ve read elsewhere the date was to be 21st Nov.

This was a man who was utterly selfish all the time. I suspect when he realised he'd be locked away for 30 years and in light of his crime, and the way child killers are treated, he couldn't face it. If he'd have got off with it, I doubt he'd have killed himself.

I’m sure I read a tweet claiming he was an ex-cop but haven’t read it in any articles so perhaps a load of tripe. I can’t find any info on what his employment was so it sounds like a man-child living off his wife’s earnings. He had one job in life and failed spectacularly at that.
