Starmer has now 'pledged' to spend 5% of GDP on national security by 2035 without giving any indication where the money will come from. The idiot couldn't say where the funding was coming from when it was recently set at 3%, now he's got another 2% to find on top of that.
The government recently had to make cuts to welfare and foreign aid to try to get up to 2.5% by 2027 - he's running out of places to get money from.
He won't be PM in 2035 so I don't suppose he cares that much anyway, and will just say any figure that comes into his head for now, or whatever Trump tells him to say.
The bloke’s definitely out of his depth and dragging the entire country down with him.
He and his cohorts need to be more inventive with their targeting of pensioners and the disabled - “if at first you don’t succeed…”

I'm beyond annoyed with Starmer for attempting to cut welfare and constantly picking on the most vulnerable in society. He is such a weak man. 4 years ago a video shows Starmer expressing his true political beliefs, that Labour should be more left and stop trying to appeal to the right wing voter. That is exactly what he is doing now! The backbenches are revolting (as in up in arms about the welfare bill, not my personal critique!) I understand he doesn't want to tax the rich further lest they up sticks and leave the country taking their tax contributions with them. But taking money from the poorest in society never has been and never will be the way forward. He should have learnt from the Winter fuel bill fiasco.

I honestly feel there should be a new leader appointed for the Government but I can't think of anyone up to the task. Starmer's true beliefs(that he cited 4 years ago) resonate with a lot of the country but maybe there is just so little money in the pot after the Tories 20 million debt he feels he has to make these harsh choices. But if you're own party doesn't agree with the laws you intend to implement maybe it's a good idea to have a rethink. It's such a shame, if he just acted with common sense and didn't isolate his core voters people wouldn't see him as so weak.

So many western countries really are broke, as in debt up to their eyeballs, yet the politicians won't level with the people.
It's going to require leaders that explain to people that whatever you were getting in the past from the government, in terms of money or services, prepare to get less.
Unfortunately, that position isn't really popular and in a democracy, people with unpopular opinions get replaced..
So they tell folks they can upright the ship without pain to the citizens and just kick problems a few years down the road..
A lot of countries are running out of road.

Britain broken?
Where else can a bloke sexually assault 5 women & a schoolgirl on various tube lines and get just 16 months in prison whilst a tweet can get you 31 months / 10 years for stealing Rolex watches…where an asylum seeker who doesn't want to shave his beard back home is allowed to stay…where illegal immigrants live in hotels that many working Brits can only dream of affording…where Union Jacks are ordered down yet Pro Palestinian and Pride flags are flown abundantly… etc etc etc
Instead of sorting out the overwhelming immigration problem, ensuring OAPs are kept warm and safe, working families can afford a roof over their heads and food in their bellies, sorting out violence on the streets, sorting out the NHS, Starmer proudly promises to “ [re pesky wi fi outages on trains] “install ultra-fast cables along major rail lines to get rid of those dead spots”.
Nice to see he’s got his priorities right. At least it’s been announced that current PIP claimants won’t be crucified but God help those that take ill from now onwards.

” I just want my country back. A country we can once again be proud to call home. Where children aren’t sacrificed to Pakistani rapists. Where our border actually means something. Where foreign rapists are deported, not handed council flats and legal aid. Where you can speak your mind, without fear of being cancelled, sacked or even arrested. Where the truth matters more than someone's feelings. Where the British flag is flown proudly. Where we grow our own food, actually make our own stuff, and stand on our own two feet. Where men are men, women are women, and everyone knows the difference. Where people earn their keep, not indolently live off the system by choice. Where a GP appointment doesn’t take six weeks. Where we unapologetically kick out foreign criminals. Where success is celebrated, not punished with taxes and scorn. Where the trains can sometimes run on time. Where we don't have drag shows in primary schools. Where the rule of law actually means something, and the same rules apply to everyone. Where young British couples feel able to raise a family. Where we celebrate the trades and apprenticeships. Where the criminal justice system can't be weaponised for foul ends. Where we make things, fix things, and own things. Where a young mum isn't in prison for posting something stupid on social media. Where people can actually speak English (mad idea, I know). Where loyalty to Britain comes first - not Palestine, but Britain. Where offence isn't outlawed. Where veterans are housed before illegal migrants. Where our Christian values are celebrated. Where we remember who we are. Where we're proud of what we are. Where we can proudly call home. I don’t think that’s too much to ask, do you? I just want my country back. “

Maddog I think you're right and the post Covid world has the potential to be somewhat dystopian. However its worse for us in 'Great' Britain as how the mighty has fallen. There is no real party fit to govern, Labour won a dramatic victory only because the Tories caused a twenty million pound debt and refused to pay junior doctors etc a suitable wage and strikes abounded. You claim we all have rose tinted specs when it comes to the NHS but nobody here is in denial about how standards have fallen and there simply isn't the money there to tape it back together. It will take time to see improvement in NHS services, as with most things, but people aren't realistic because as you correctly state the Government isn't honest enough to say we haven't a pot to..make use of. Sadly the least well off in society are all too easily conned by right wing parties who lied to them about Brexit. They are ready and willing to be lied to again.

Dr Shola Mos-Shogbamimu.
The country you describe never existed even amongst you ‘Whites’ you killed, stole & raped each other. Rule of law never applied to the wealthy & the poor trodden on. FYI the demographic that rapes women/girls more than others is White British men. If you didn’t want any of these ‘foreigners’ in your ‘country’ you shouldn’t have infested their countries with your kind, disgusting diseases, killed their people, disrupted their governments and stole their resources.Bloody racist.

Another humiliatiing U-turn for Starmer, this time on welfare reform. It seems like everything he does has to be reversed once the penny drops what a dumb fucking move he's made.
He still won't admit to any mistakes though, and is now saying that the concessions that were forced upon him (he would have lost the commons vote if he didn't make them - an even bigger disaster) are 'common sense' and 'strike the right balance' LMAO.
That's another £3 billion plus that has to be found from somewhere else - and he hasn't got a clue where it's coming from.
As for the U-turn itself - it's going to create a hugely unfair two-tiered benefits system. For example, anyone currently with an illness like MS will continue to receive support, but those diagnosed with the same illness from next year will get nothing, and most likely descend into poverty

I'm no fan of Diane Abbott by any means - her whole political career seems to have been based on her being black, and finding offence and racism around every corner, while at the same time being offensive and racist to those who don't share her skin colour.
She also seems to be quite thick and not a very good MP.
However, she seems to have mellowed a bit lately and is one of the few prominent Labour MPs who will speak out about the current state of the party leadership.
