It was the photo I found the most bizarre. Aside from what the hell was he doing, why on earth let someone (who?) take a picture of you in your underpants?
In the old days Mandelson would have been chained up at Traitors Gate and drowned.
He's got one of those faces that you just want to punch
Of course, Mandelson regrets 'until his dying day' his association with Epstein, and of course he had no idea what Epstein was up to with underage girls. Yet, in the latest tranche of releases, we have Mandelson, well after Epstein's conviction over a 14 year-old, emailing him to offer a holiday home in Italy where he can stay privately with rooms for his 'guests'. The quotes around guests are his not mine, and I think that says everything we need to know.
At the auction, you hear the auctioneer say "thank you Mr Perot"..
I'm assuming that's Ross Perot's kid who is worth a few billion and has a place to put that steer, assuming it's not sent off to make steaks and hamburgers out of..

A beautiful animal....did you buy him?
$550,000 is a little too steep for me.

Expensive burgers...why would anyone pay that for a steer though?
To add, why would anyone not want to breed off such a beautiful animal, then it MIGHT be worth such an extortionate amount.

It's basically a charitable donation and a way to flash your cash. It can also be used to promote you or your brand as in advertising.
Steers gain that large size and body composition because a steer by definition is a castrated male..
No breeding for steers and that's how 99% of male cows wind up..

I know steers can't be bred off, which seems a waste of such a fine specimen....I bet his offspring would have been lovely.

Here is the winner from two years ago. If you zoom in on her face, you can tell she's emotional. She's about to become wealthy, but also about to lose an animal she spent hours with every day.
Such is the circle of life and these ranch kids tend to turn out pretty well adjusted..

They have different competitions for bulls. For some reason they aren't as big a deal as for steers.
I imagine there is a lot more risk involved. You can let steers hang out together. Bulls can get very aggressive with each other even after being trained for the ring.

And I doubt bulls would make good companions for kids. That boy and girl obviously loved heir animals.

That last steer looks a bit camp - that's probably castration for you though.
It reminds me of a catwalk model strutting around in a big fluffy coat - just needs a bit of lippie to complete the look!

When you go to the barns where all of these animals are kept for the show , it looks like a beauty salon with brushes, blow driers and other beauty products..

So in effect, a steer is a feminised bull? Had it's balls chopped off and has been all prettied up?
If they catch their reflections in a puddle they probably think 'oh no what the fuck have they done to me!'
I've heard about women who do similar with their husbands, but didn't realise it happens in the animal world as well.

Well, most steers are eaten as soon as they stop growing.
The one out of ten thousand that gets shown, may have a slightly longer life.
There is no male privilege in the livestock world because it only takes one male to fertilize dozens of females and any excess males have no value once they are mature..

Surely that beautiful white steer won't get eaten, not after paying half a million $....will it end up being some rich kids pet?

We won't get a GE, but we might get a new PM before too long, I think Starmer has used up his 9 lives by now.
Pity Andy Burnham was blocked from re-entering politics as an MP...as far as I can see, he is the only one who could have had a hope in hell of salvaging Labour in the time they have left.
No one can save Labour now, but I do think that Burnham has played a blinder by heaping more pressure on Starmer.
Labour have to be very careful about the timing of appointing a new leader. There is the upcoming by-election which is now massive, and the May local elections will be a bloodbath. Ideally, they would want a new leader to come in after May, when they can start afresh and try to 'pick up the pieces', but I don't see how Starmer can possibly last until then. Imagine coming in as the new leader now and knowing what May is going to bring you!
With things ramping up the last couple of days he might be lucky to hang on until the end of this month

The purchasers almost always donate the animal.
I read this particular one is going to the school district for educational purposes, then to the slaughterhouse.
There's not really much use for a steer past 2 years in age..They just eat and cost money.

Poor thing, so it has it's balls chopped off, makes someone a fortune, then ends up on a kebab....human beings are so horrible.

Probably more than half of the meat you eat comes from animals that had their balls chopped off. And they were never pampered like a show animal.
I.have always said a wild animal that is hunted has a better life than domestic animals..
A deer might grow old. Of course it's death is far more gruesome than a steer but it might be after a normal life..
Cattle aren't pets and they gotta go when they are no longer making money..
