Maybe the reason many Yanks are so fat, is because their food tastes better than ours..(allegedly)
Having stayed in Texas 20 yrs ago, with hubs family, people ate out mostly. When finished they got doggie bags to take leftovers. Coke was served in massive cups, with refills anytime. Chips, burgers, massive pizzas. I couldn't believe it
Is it gluttony or simple economy?
I have never asked to take leftovers home from a restaurant, it's not really a British thing.
Maybe if the Americans didn't expect such huge portions to be served when eating out, they wouldn't need to cart half of it home with them.
People generally prefer more of something for the same price.
If I offer you one banana for a dollar or two bananas for a dollar, which one would you choose?

I don't get doggie bags.
I should, but I don't. 😬
We no doubt have restaurants that cater to quantity over quality.
And of course our buffets allow for some serious gluttony.

I know Madders, we couldn't believe it. Meals were so large, no wonder they couldn't finish it all.

Well, like I said, it sort of depend on where you go.
You can find a place that will charge you a lot of money for a piece of lettuce and two olives.
I imagine if you're visiting and eating out a lot, your guests probably took the price of meals into consideration.
That said, we do eat a lot, but I think we always have..
Being fat fucks is a bit more recent.
I felt so bad earlier, I went had a vegan lunch . 😉

Two...I would give one to a friend.
Actually, it's a myth that British food is bad. We have some of the best restaurants dotted amongst the American, Indian, and Italian ones.
I love places where they source local products, and have a mix of various cooking styles.
The days of boiled beef and carrots Brit style are long gone.

And splitting a meal is common here.
Not for me mind you, but more diminutive folks.
I'm sure your food is fine. Like you're teeth.
But once you get reputation...................🤷♂️

True...there is often some truth in a rumour, but it gets blown up out of proportion over the years.
I used to work in a country pub, the owner, who was Italian, made great pizza's...but they were huge.
Often a couple or a family would come in and ask to share....he used to expect me to charge extra for the spare plate, which I never did.

Five years ago today "Dougal" came to stay.
I only found out "Dougal" had no wotsits on our first visit to the Vets and he asked why I had given a girl pup a boy's name.
😂
Look at this Mags!!
It isn't Shorty but this Westies owner thought they had bought a waterproof coat!!
Aww bless the little doggie.
You've got to be careful with dog coats, some cheap ones are lethal.
One woman bought one for her Pug and the poppers opened and he ran onto the road.
