I do have several photos of my mum, me and OH, son, and grandson....4 generations, we used to go out for meals together. Happy times.
Only two of my Great Grandparents were still alive when I was born. One lived in Northern Ireland (My Granda's) mum, I never got to meet her and that Great Granny in the photo.
She died the year after I was born, her funeral was Christmas Eve.
I don't remember it but my mum said it was a strange Christmas.
Christmastime is a hard time to lose a loved one.
I knew only my grandad on my dads side, and my gran on my mums side....gran died when I was little, grandad lived till I was in my 40's...he outlived his son (my dad) for quite a few years.
I knew all my Grandparents, my Granda (My dad's dad) died first when I was 17, he was 86. I was his youngest granddaughter, the eldest granddaughter was 37 when he died, infact her daughter is only a few months younger than me.
My other Granda was 81, he died the day before my Gran's birthday. In the morning he had ordered my Gran flowers to be delivered on her birthday but hadn't told her because he wanted them to be a surprise.
It was weird, my Gran thought they would say "Condolences" because she had been receiving lots of flowers that day, instead they were from my Granda saying "Happy Birthday"
Aww Vita, that's so touching.
I am blessed to see my grandsons growing up. We were lucky to be still quite young when they were born, with any luck we will make it to be great grandparents...maybe not too soon though.

Great Grandchildren would be nice, Syl.
I was thinking, that photo of my Gran, she was only 51 when that was taken but looks and dresses older.
That was October 1970, my brother's first birthday, he didn't usually dress like that.

People did look a lot older then, obviously they had had harder lives than the last 2 or 3 generations have had.
I remember my gran as a very quiet little old lady, my grandsons will have very different memories of me.
Look at Maddogs ex, she doesn't like what many people imagine a grandma to be, but that's more the norm nowadays.

She's had a little work too.
But she was a personal trainer when we were married and kept in very good shape most of her life.
Women used to be "old" when they hit 40.
Now they can keep on turning heads well past that age.
Grandparents are often much older than they used to be because people are waiting longer to have kids. But they don't seem as old as they were when I was a kid. Maybe because I am one. 😉

Being a grandparent seems to put a different slant on what they should look like.
My grandkids always say I am not a typical grandparent....which I take as a compliment, but it's possibly because I am often as childish as they are.

My grandkids just speak nonsense and point.
But I intend on being as non typical as possible, especially when they hang with me, unsupervised.

Eight years ago today Scotland went to the polls and was asked "Should Scotland be an Independent Country?"
45% said yes
55% said no
Since the death of Her Majesty the figure for yes is now 42%

Be a shame to separate what James 6th of Scotland and 1st of England united.

Barbaric country. Brave women, I bet they were arrested later.
Arrested and murdered like that poor woman.
Another triumph for the 'religion of peace'.
My benefits have been stopped for 6 months at least without explanation- meanwhile the channel crossers and migrants all have luxury hotels to stay in and endless vouchers to spend at Primark and any food outlet they choose.
This country is totally fucked.
Phil.

It's just goes from bad to worse for you.
What are you going to do, have you explained everything that's happened this year to them.
They can't let you starve, tell them to get it fixed.

You are relying on thos benefits to survive at present, how can they just stop them Phil?
What reason do they give, surely they must have said why. Why do you think they have stopped them?
