it's a slippery slope. Reminds me of the concept within the Dune books by Frank Herbert. All technology was banned.
"The Dune novels by Frank Herbert feature a galaxy without "thinking machines" (computers, AI) due to the ancient Butlerian Jihad, a rebellion that banned them to prevent human over-reliance and enslavement"
^ I copied that from the google AI overview LoL
It got the over-reliance part right, and the enslavement part might not be too far away either.

All I know is I am sick of AI generated YouTube vids masquerading as real life videos...and it's getting harder to tell the difference.

I was watching something, I thought it was real, it was AI. I don't like it, they can make up anything and pass it off as truth.

It's getting out of control, people will be brainwashed by images that are unreal. The other side is people will become sceptical of everything they see online.
People will see real atrocities and will be so used to seeing AI news they will disregard it....either way it's damaging.

I agree. I really think it should be stopped, but how, or who, can stop it.

Only one of these pics is genuine - look how realsitic the others are!
The woman has never worn a yellow ski suit or red and blue jacket'
Not only can AI remove your clothes, it can also change what you are wearing. Imagine if you are quite a fahionable person and AI dresses you in some cheapo Primark outfit!
Obviously AI isn't like X-ray specs, so it can't replicate your actual naked body, but just stick your head on someone else's. What if you are proud of a certain body part that is usually hidden - bum, chest whatever, and AI gives you something not very flattering instead?

Sticking someones head on a pornstar doing her thing, is old hat on the internet. But with the advancement of AI, innocent people could be starring in the most extreme of porn for the world to see, and that's just one of the ways it can be used.
I think technology is brilliant, but then it depends who's hands it's in.

When not being used for nefarious reasons, AI can be entertaining.
Here is a link to RetroStarAI - obviously not misleading anyone by returning celebs to their youth:

I love these, and like you say, they are harmless.
Have to say though they haven't got Jane Asher right on that one, and I thought David Bailey was Charlie Watts.

The White House has released a pic of an anti-ICE protester crying her eyes out.
The White House has released a pic of an anti-ICE protester crying her eyes out.
Except that she wasn't.
What is the point of this madness?
I don't know why the need...plenty of videos out there showing how "brave" these puddings are when they actually get arrested...tears and pee. My favourite whingers are the ones, ironically, doxxed online for releasing ICE officers' details

If the administration can do this, it shows you can't believe anything they say. Look how they've framed yesterday's ICE shooting of Pretti despite the video evidence.

This may be an unintended consequence of AI generally. If you cannot really believe anything you see online it may push people back offline to start dealing with each other more on a face-to-face level.

I can't see that working with the younger generations, they are too conditioned to be living in an alternative universe.
