My girls took me out today for my birthday this Weds. My granddaughters came too, so a lovely girlie day.
I had no idea where. It was a quaint old tea room. Oh it was beautiful, never been before. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Such a great time, like in the 40s lol. The homemade cakes are to die for and I had a birthday cake too! Lucky me 😀

Not sure you're on the right track MD the Brits are huge on spices.
The Brits invented curry remember.
I've recently bought a kilo of cardamoms and a kilo of turmeric because I use them medicinally.
Lots of ginger garlic and cloves for the same reason.
There are loads of herbs and spices pass through my house and me.

Remember the Brits had spiced cake generations ago and spiced fruit spiced rum etc.
The Brits were using mustard all the way back in the bronze age we had the Roman occupation 2,000 years ago that brought olives garlic peppers and so on.
We had the crusaders bringing back foods and spices from the middle east so spices are far from new to Britain.
How's America doing playing catch up or should that be ketchup?

Everyone knows the Brits went in search of spices and found plenty.
How come you never used them? 😉
Americans don't eat that much ketchup anymore either.

I discovered a film by the great Bette Davis a few days ago, I didn't know about.
"The Anniversary"
Half way through it, marvellous!!
Plays a good baddy, she's just a good actress.
Made an entrance on best baddies of all time for her performance in "Whatever happened to Baby Jane"

I agree, he is a great actor. He has a very sympathetic face and a gentle Welsh lilt to his voice...which is why he made a great baddie.
A quiet voice can be much more menacing than a loud shouty one.

He was really good in another film I watched recently that also starred Mickey Rourke.
I loved Silence of the Lambs but wasn't so keen on Hannibal.

Bette Davis is evil in "The Anniversary"
Just by the things she keeps saying.
One of her son's said "you wouldn't be sitting around the guillotine watching, you would be up there doing it yourself and then going round selling the heads as door-stops"
