Nearly forty years ago edited thirty years ago? nI was seriously looking into investing my time and my
bank managers money into ostrich farming.
I had the land and a load of stone outbuildings.
Some quite large a great water supply from spring and well.
The fencing would have been the biggest outlay... a huge outlay.
My bank manager became overly excited in a way bank managers shouldn't really.
It was something that had become fashionable in the UK back then but
not many people had the resources I already had as mentioned.
Apart of course from established experienced family farmers.
Bank manager was willing.
Ostrich meat was going to replace beef because mad cow disease had decimated
the beef market.
Bank manager was so eager as to come up with a supplier of birds in the south of England
that wasn't my choice
but he knew what he was doing surely better than me?
I can't remember the details now all these years later but I was informed
of the Ostrich farming investment schemes
that were going around mostly being scams.
Meaning my bank manager was a complacent over excited idiot who would lose
the banks money and expect me to pay for it.
Before one penny was borrowed spent etc I informed said bank manager and he was
mortified and a week later had it confirmed for
himself and I never saw him after that... early retirement apparently... or shoved.
Experts aren't always as expert as they'd have you believe.
Huge eggs serves four tastes like beef etc etc the amount of printed blurb I had was
unbelievable and all very high quality.
Millions of pounds were lost/stolen from eagre punters.
Most birds didn't exist beyond a handful for show.
Pity as I was really looking forward to doing something so new.

I'm reading Agatha Christie's"And then there were none" at the moment.
It's had two name changes.
It's also sold 100 million copies!!

That's daughter number 3.
I had all daughters and the first two grand babies were girls.
Plus my ex has 3 other grand daughters from her current husband.
Daughter 2 will have her baby before number 3, but she's not finding out until it's born.
Aww...I thought it might be your daughter, wasn't sure.Congrats to them and to you too.
I don't have Granddaughters, but i know Grandsons are a huge blessing. x
Congratulations Madders!!
Look...
Get one for the wee fella when he's born!!
