"Labour plans in turmoil after Epping hotel blocked from housing asylum seekers"
Great news - the high court has blocked asylum seekers from being housed at the hotel in Epping, and ministers are now 'braced' for other councils to follow suit. Labour has a month to find alternative accommodation for them, but it looks like they could be blocked wherever they try. From being a protected species, it could be that asylum seekers have suddenly become a hot potato that nobody wants.
The completely useless Yvette Cooper had tried to have the Epping case dismissed at the last minute, but failed. Just like she has failed at practically everything she has done since becoming Home Secretary.

Has anyone ever wanted huge groups of young men here, all housed together, many of them bringing no previous records of what the hell they did before they arrived here.
This government had better decide quickly where these asylum seekers/refugees/illegal immigrants are going. If they are turfed out of the hotels, will they end up living 10 deep in residential properties, maybe in a street near you...because that would be even worse.

If other councils follow suit, and some have already started, Labour will be at a complete loss as where to house them. If you think Starmer and Cooper are headless chickens now, just wait until this kicks off!
This is the type of person the tax payer is currently putting up in a 4 star hotel. He tells his followers to kill their wives with razor blades if they don't behave obediently:

Starmer can interrupt his holiday re Ukraine but not for the growing unrest over the illegals…he can promise to use troops to secure others borders but not ours. Angela Rayner posing with Pakistani Deputy Prime Minister wanting to “strengthen ties” between the two countries…tone deaf to the Pakistani rape gangs. On and on it goes.
As long as it’s you and me having to live next to these savages, and as long as it’s not their kids being groomed and raped the Gov’t will never give a shiny shite. There’s no end in sight unless this Gov’t is ousted. I don’t feel the country can last another 3 years unless something is done.
Starmer and his crew are shameful.

Listen to this idiot trying to avoid where the invaders are going to be housed when booted out of the hotels, he was asked enough times... https://x.com/jomickane/status/1958123620422631605
Starmer's crew is scurrying about trying to find out where to dump them/there are no "contingencies" whatsoever in place because they didn't bank on their offences being brought to light. The High Court block seems to have caught them on the hop. Starmer, a legal bod and all.
The Gov't has been caught breaking UK laws, now running around like headless chickens.

111,000 people claimed asylum in past year - above the 2002 peak
According to the figures, 111,000 people claimed asylum in the UK in the year ending in June 2025.It marks a 14% increase from the previous year, and it is higher than the previous recorded peak of 103,000 in 2002, the Home Office says.It says that the number of people claiming asylum has "almost doubled" since 2021 and half of those seeking asylum "arrived through irregular routes".In the year ending in March 2025, the Home Office adds, the UK received "the fifth largest number of asylum seekers in the EU+, after Germany, Spain, Italy and France".
Number of asylum seekers in hotels up 8% in a year
According to the new Home Office statistics, there were 32,059 asylum seekers being housed in hotels at the end of June. That's an 8% increase since the end of June 2024, but a 43% drop compared to the 56,042 peak recorded at the end of September 2023.It's also a slight decrease on the total at the end of March, which was 32,345. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/ce83n80dqllt

Unless I'm mishearing / misunderstanding, he says that the government was aware of the legal issues (related to using hotels) but still proceeded with housing them. As someone commented, he can't even look the interviewer in the eye.
I'd like to think he's hanging his head in shame but I doubt he is. Wimp.

I don't even want them in tents, they shouldn't be on UK soil at all - our Armed Forces should have been used years ago to send out that message.
I'm so tired of the government's lies and inaction over this. Starmer and his cronies have proved time and time again that they're out of they're depth. I can see why folks are taking to the streets and yeah, I can see things getting far worse.

There have been pockets of rebellion here and in the rest of Europe, but I think things will get an awful lot worse in the years to come....IF things are allowed to carry on like this.
People will take so much, then it'll explode, and all the politicians lies, the media's false reporting, and the police and authorities pledges and promises, just won't count for anything.
I don't know how long it'll take, but I'm sure it will happen in the future. Sadly, the very people who fought for this countries freedom, won't be around to see it.

A human rights lawyer can't see the point of the Southport killer being punished (ie, privileges removed) for throwing scalding hot water over a guard because he reasons that he's already spending a minimum of 52 years in prison and can't see "why depriving him of £10 extra for the canteen....."
He says "I'm not sure why it's so newsworthy to be honest. Luckily, it turned out I don't think the prison officer was particularly scalded...he did come back". https://x.com/jomickane/status/1958575764200153288

UPDATE 22 AUG 2025
As expected ""Home Office will appeal shock Epping migrant hotel ruling after council won legal battle to move out asylum seekers"
"Before judgment was handed down on Tuesday, barristers for the Home Office asked to intervene in the case.
They cited the 'substantial impact' caused to Home Secretary Yvette Cooper in performing her legal duties to asylum seekers.
They argued moving asylum seekers in the short period would cause 'particular acute difficulties' for the Government, but their bid was dismissed.
Since the injunction was granted, other local authorities across the country controlled by Labour, the Conservatives and Reform UK are investigating whether they could also pursue legal challenges against asylum hotels.
A wave of protests outside hotels used to temporarily house asylum seekers is expected in the coming days.
Announcing the Government's plan to challenge the High Court's decision, Mr Jarvis told broadcasters on Friday: 'This Government will close all asylum hotels and we will clear up the mess that we inherited from the previous government.
'We've made a commitment that we will close all of the asylum hotels by the end of this Parliament, but we need to do that in a managed and ordered way.
'And that's why we'll appeal this decision.'
The Epping injunction threatens to collapse Labour's asylum system as councils across the country prepare to hit the Home Office with copycat litigation over the use of hotels in their areas.
Tory leader Kemi Badenoch has written to all Conservative councils pledging support for any legal action.
Reform UK leader Nigel Farage has used the Epping case as a rallying cry.
He said: 'Let's hold peaceful protests outside hotels and put pressure on councils to go to court to try to get illegal immigrants out.'
But anti-racism groups have warned the ruling sets a 'dangerous precedent', with Stand Up To Racism saying that it will 'embolden the far-Right to call more protests outside hotels housing refugees'. Her story shows how bad Starmer’s UK has become re free speech. I have a feeling she’s going to go, in time, for his jugular and the police also.
Apparently the White House has been monitoring her case so I’m looking forward to the details of her chat with Trump, hopefully Starmer will have permanent clenched cheeks after it.

Starmer says he is very much in favour of free speech, but very much against incitement to violence.
Lucy Connolly, who had no previous record, admitted from the start she was wrong to post that tweet. She deleted it the same day before any violence broke out in Southport, she was giving her own opinion, not inciting others to do what she rashly said at the time.
She had lost a child herself, knew of the agony those families of the murdered little girls were going through, she made one post in anger and grief.
Ricky Jones was cleared of encouraging violent disorder after he publicly called for far right activists throats to be cut.
