Trump was such a flipping embarrassment at the state.visit when it comes to Royal protocol. But he has form, he walked in front of the Queen when visiting her, ignoring her completely whilst studying the Guards as she tottered about behind him on the grass.
This time he strode proudly next to a soldier ..leaving King Charles metres behind struggling to keep up. The man just doesn't have basic manners! Whether I agree with the amount of pomp and ceremony surrounding our Royals or not, if you meet them you are informed of certain protocol and if you are someone's guest you don't abandon them anyway. I know you are definitely not supposed to disregard the Monarch and walk in front of them..!
The guy is a classless chump. As for him leering at a radiant Princess Kate when seated next to her (and it was heartening to see her looking so well) he never learns. I suppose questions regarding Epstein were banned from the press conference..
Do you think female politicians should cover their hair when they meet royals from the middle east?
Yes, when in Rome. Hence my point.Trump didn't follow any of the protocol, he is the only President or leader visiting not to. I think he just forgets or think the rules for others don't apply to him. Well sadly when meeting Royalty from another country they do.
When I saw a clip of him armed with a huge umbrella to protect his toupee before boarding the plane, letting his eleven year old son get soaking wet I realised it was nothing personal. He just doesn't care about other people.
I guess we're different. I don't want my daughter's to feel subjugated to conform with that nonsense..
If you go to such countries as a female not wearing the required headscarf you could find yourself in trouble.
I don't think women should have to cover up their hair, unless it is a Muslim's ladies choice to do so and in fairness they would be following the doctrine of the Qu'ran.
The covering of the face and entire body is a man made construct which I agree is just an attempt to control and repress women. But when you visit or live in other countries you have to respect their laws and there are some beautiful coloured Hijab's some Muslim ladies wear.
I wouldn't mind wearing one on a holiday, for life..not so keen!

Fair point. But I'm sure Macron never ignored the Queen and let her slip around in the grass.
This however looks like an identical set up to Trump by the way the Guards are standing, so I agree with you Anon.
During his state visit July 2025 do you mean?
Trump didn’t break protocol the other day nor with the Queen, neither did Biden and/or Obama during their inspections.

You could. So if I was a woman I'd spend my money elsewhere for travel..
If I was a member of the US government, I'd respectfully follow our protocols when conducting US diplomacy, not that of some foreign prince.

"Michelle Obama (2015): The first lady did not wear a headscarf during an official visit to Saudi Arabia. The decision caused minor controversy on social media, but was in line with protocol, as many Western women in elite circles also do not cover their hair."
Good for her.

Colbert began his Late Show monologue by declaring, “Tonight we’re all Jimmy Kimmel,” and stated that Kimmel’s show being taken off air by ABC after threats from the FCC was “blatant censorship”.
“With an autocrat, you cannot give an inch,” Colbert said, directing his ire at Trump, and added: “If ABC thinks that this is going to satisfy the regime, they are woefully naive.”

Lol, I was so happy! 🤗 Seems I got carried away as I tried to post a music video and that failed. Where is the clipboard located on a tablet , space ??
I love James O Brien. What I don't get about the critique about Starmer is whilst some of it is valid he is a choir boy compared to the Tories who left us 20 million in the red, destroyed the NHS and of course took us out of the biggest single market with Brexit (which btw also is the reason we can't fix our immigration problem)
And just as the majority of people voted for Brexit which has made us far poorer and vulnerable as a country they will believe compulsive liar Farage AGAIN (We are still waiting for him to give the 2 million he promised to the NHS how many years later) and vote for Reform..who will attempt to take away our basic rights and civil liberties. And voters actually want him to do that , not thinking of what disasters this will cause further down the line, just to get rid of migrants when he was the figurehead for Brexit which is the reason we can't get rid of migrants in the first place. You could not make it up. But yeah, boo Starmer.
Sorry Vam, I went off on a slight tangent there!

👇🏻 TL;DR? … okay, sorry. In a nutshell, shit’s getting real
Aside from the daily onslaught of headline-grabbing bullshit being churned out - solely to distract from the Epstein files - pretty much everything Trump is now doing is a prelude leading up to the November 2026 midterms.
Under the guise of ‘fighting crime’, he is gradually acclimating Americans to seeing the US military embedded within their communities. He’s doing this because he probably intends to manufacture some bullshit ‘crisis’ next year, as an excuse to cancel the election - such as ‘civil unrest!’ or ‘it’s all rigged, the Democrats are stealing votes! Seize the voting machines!’.
Congress has been completely neutered. They‘re supposed to be lawmakers, but there is no one in the Republican majority in Congress with the spine, or even any interest, in trying to rein trump in.
The Judiciary is at least trying to block his lawlessnes. But trump doesn’t give a flying fuck about the Lower Courts. Not when he can appeal Lower Court rulings all the way up to the highest court in the land. Thanks to what he managed to wangle in his first term as POTUS, the Supreme Court now has 6 extreme-Right radicals who can always be relied on to find a way to ‘personalise’ the US Constitution in trump’s favour, and give him the monarchal power to do whatever the fuck he likes.
The Supreme Court Justices are supposed to be the ultimate constitutional scholars. They hold an immense power and authority to chart the course of US history. But the reality is, history will remember 6 of them as radical and deeply corrupt trump enablers. They think nothing of routinely overturning the rulings of their colleagues in the Lower Courts, and green-light trump’s agenda.
3 co-equal branches of government? Oh puh-leeese! So far, we have Congress + the Judiciary = completely neutered, subservient eunuchs, only there to serve the Neon God they made. Trump’s Executive branch reigns supreme.
And now he and his cabal are tamping down on the last best hope, the Fourth Estate. What is left of a free and fair press and news media these days is now under constant attack. No ‘disrespectful’ questioning or saying mean things about the Dear Leader. Ever!
Ditto television networks, and even late-night TV hosts/comedians. All are under an onslaught of intense intimidation and suppression.
A vengeful, gossamer thin-skinned, narcissistic bully is in charge of America, and he will use every lever of the government he controls to bend America to his will. He won’t stop until he’s either removed from Office, or he’s 6-feet under. He and his corrupt cabal hold all the power, and there is no way in hell they intend to relinquish that power. Whatever it takes, by any means necessary.
As I said, shit’s getting real. Democrats - or maybe even a credible third Party - urgently need to find a way to step up and meet the moment.
Imo, the only way to beat this Republican mob in a filthy fight, is to get right down into the gutter with them.

Vam, how can the Democrats or anybody fight a madman surrounded by Yes men and sycophants on the pay roll when he is literally the most powerful man in the world? As George Bernard Shaw said " I learned long ago, never to wrestle with a .pig You get dirty, and besides, the pig likes it"
The only way is for the American public who have woken up and are worried about losing their civil liberties is for them to fight back possibly in a peaceful protest, and make their political intentons known at the next election (i.e NOT Trump ) They could consider rioting..carefully( that sounds difficult, granted). Not enough to get them all carted off by trigger happy police but to get a bit more bold. The electorate gave him the power, only the electorate can take it away. But if they get too bold about showing their discontent they might find themselves in all sorts of trouble. Trump will decide protestors are in fact terrorists or gangs posing trouble to law and order ..and into an unmarked car they will go, just like when I.C.E took away anyone who wouldn't get sunburnt in.a rain storm who couldn't produce a passport on demand.
The problem is folk who are enamoured with MAGA and vote for them or even feel threatened by them and will do their bidding (as network ABC did) When all is said and done everyday Americans care about their wages, taxes, hospital expenses, the price of gas, groceries, accommodation etc and it depends if citizens feel more comfortable financially under Trump. Tariffs will have cost the taxpayer a bundle and I don't think the poor are any richer. I've seen many YouTube video's by ordinary homeowners who are despairing at the cost of living there at the moment. So there is hope.
A better but impossible scam is for America to worship Trump come what may until the next election, pretend they are all happy as clams and then all vote for the Democrat candidate, no matter who it is. Obviously that's absurd but my fear is that by showing dissent with Trump 's presidency he may try to erode people's liberties to ensure he remains in charge.A fitting example would be in a previous election when there was no way to vote in areas where mostly people of colour resided. He declared to the electorate "You only need to vote for me once more"..that worries me. Maybe I'm crediting him with too much intelligence but it sounds like he's implying that this term is the end of something. Civil liberties for those who don't "belong"?
I now sound like a conspiracy theorist
Vam, the man makes me uneasy and that's putting it mildly as the influence he has had over here is quite marked. The far right rhetoric that has become frequent and normalised is a direct result of people and Trump and Farage (who intends to pay Afghanistan to return female refugees, sending them to certain death) and this would have been considered abhorrent ten years ago. Now, it's like people have been indoctrinated just enough to comply. But whilst the majority of Americans seem content to remain passive or celebrate I'm not sure what can be achieved. 🤷

”Vam, how can the Democrats or anybody fight a madman surrounded by Yes men and sycophants on the pay roll when he is literally the most powerful man in the world? “
Online messaging could be key, imv. And the more outrageous and viral, the better! More Democrats should be stepping up, as Governor Gavin Newsom has, and absolutely hammer the hell out of trump with some combative no-holds-barred mockery, and relentless emphasis on what a depraved, stone-cold liar and self-enriching conman he really is. Nothing enrages that sociopathic narcissist more than being mocked. Ditto, his enablers - especially those in Congress and the Supreme Court.
Fight fire, not with fire, but with volcanic viral messaging. And very little should squeamishly be considered as ‘crossing boundaries’. Trump bulldozes through boundaries every single day! As for public protests, yes, of course there’s always a risk in turning out to protest these days. Trump is itching to unleash the US military onto civilians. But if massive swathes of protesters in historic numbers keep taking to the streets every day, or even if there’s a General Strike, what’s the military/law enforcement gonna do? Arrest every single person?
Fluffs, you’re right. There are no obvious easy solutions to break the impasse of trump’s claustrophobic tyranny. But something has to happen ASAP, or America will be lost forever.

And the UK with it. This is a tediously long post with no resolution. I apologise!
I know you don't like to get into our politics but Farage is the British Trump, threatening(sorry, promising) voters to take us out of the European Courts of Human Rights in.order to do way with immigrants.Lets speak objectively, giving away ones human rights doesn't sound like a very bright thing to do.
We then won't be able to trade with the EU by law and other countries will be appalled by us sending genuine female refugees back to Afghanistan and the Taliban . Except one man. Who also.loathes foreigners , the EU,and by all accounts has invited Farage over for tea and fondant fancies. Farage is also a fan of Putin and said he admired him,Trump has implied that also and that too makes me uneasy. They admire him because they are sociopaths with no regard for human life at all.
Yep, we will be a much poorer nation with no protections for workers or pensioners, just relying on the mercy of Farage whilst also being condemned and avoided on the world stage but Trump will be delighted to unite with us and do with us what he wants. We will have to embrace Trump and MAGA just to survive economically. Even the British acronym is embarrassing, MEGA (Make England Great Again)
Seriously, this is a potential future we may have to face and the US and UK will both be lost. At least for us, it is only a potential future.
I would be so frightened living in America right now. Your way might be the only way. He is a convicted felon who was great mates with Epstein. He took the lady who accused him of ra*e to court for libel, and lost..These facts do need to be hammered home..that he is a dangerous man, a misogynistic man, a compulsive liar who wants to oppress people's freedoms. He is proving the last part himself , if you give narcissistic people like Trump enough rope they will usually do the job for you.
He will put a gagging order on anyone discussing Epstein, he may have done so already. My only fear is that it's already too late.if people remind his voters of his flaws online he will go after them.all. People who spoke negatively about Kirk online (not just the uncouth nutters who celebrated his death but anyone who said something inflammatory about Kirk OR himself)have lost their jobs. Over a tweet. Far worse things were said on Dogs! Teachers, people in administration, normal everyday people have lost their employment over a negative social.media post about Trump or Kirk. So he is already moving the goalposts and censoring free speech. Jimmy Kimmel actually mocked Trump, not Kirk, and that's why he lost his job.
Vam, he may just censor everyone from speaking negatively about him by ensuring they will be sacked. Kirk 's untimely death opened the door prematurely, he has started taking away people's liberties already under the guise of protecting Kirk 's reputation. Half the people who lost their livelihood spoke about him, not Kirk. If he does continue in this vein maybe he could be challenged in another way. I kn I'm not being helpful but he has already been permitted to do so much damage and get away with too much. It will be hard to move the goalposts back now.

But dont you think it's setting a dangerous precedent that the President is not just censoring people who talk negatively about him on social media but also getting people dismissed from their job for the same reason?
Jimmy Kimmel mocked Trump on his programme. Not Kirk.

And yet you believe that the goalposts can be moved in the UK.

Madders. That's not why they did it and you know it. Don't you worry about Trump eroding your free speech?/You like MAGA and don't want to speak out against them so you're sitting pretty. For now.
But dont you think it's setting a dangerous precedent that the President is not just censoring people who talk negatively about him on social media but also getting people dismissed from their job for the same reason?
Jimmy Kimmel mocked Trump on his programme. Not Kirk.
Kimmel is back on. Starts tomorrow..
His ratings are terrible. Let's see if they improve.
I bet he apologizes on air and the left erupts and abandons him..

And Jimmy Kimmel didn't mock Trump..
He lied about the shooter being a MAGA supporter..
OMG, it's a victory moment!
I have uploaded a video. This one is a hoot.
James O Brien is literally my muse. I haven't disagreed with a thing he has said yet. He is rather scathing about Trump.
Good for her.
Typical ignorant Yank who'd walk in the mosque with his boots on.
@ Diggs…. it took me a while, but you’ll be pleased to know I FINALLY got the ‘strong Trump’ part!

(and if the reports, plus the reason for his baggy trousers, are to be believed - the trumps are for real
)
👏🏻👏🏻 We never forget our first, Fluffster! 😂
He’s bang-on about trump, of course. As for Starmer, I guess the saying about a ‘broken clock’ applies… 🤷🏻♀️

Presenters are now openly fighting back and speaking out against Trump's censorship in America Anon, which is good to know. Censoring the media is literally straight out of the 1984 novel and a dangerous road to go down. Comedian Stephen Colbert addressed the issue head on.
MD declared on the Kirk thread that Jimmy Kimmel's suspension had nothing to do with the Trump administration but it seems America does not agree..
The “Late Show” host then alleged that Kimmel’s suspension was not entirely about his comments on Kirk, but rather “part of a plan,” as he cited Trump’s remarks after his show’s cancellation announcement, where he wrote: “Jimmy Kimmel is NEXT to go.”

I didn't say it had nothing to do with the Trump administration.
They jaw boned ABC. Not the first time our government has done this..
ABC likely is glad for any excuse to dump him. They can make more money running reruns of The Brady Bunch..
