And speaking of petrol, (as we were) it's hit £2 a litre here now.

Well, you have a lot of taxes built into that price. Take those out and yours would be about the same as us.
Â
Those taxes are for your own good. 😉

Alternatively, it could mean I'm not stupid.

You're preaching to the choir mama.
Â
I can't even fathom the amount of money yall pay in taxes.Â
Â
I mean I can, because we have California to use for comparison.Â
Â
But I just shake my head thinking about it.Â

So daughter #2 stopped by as she had a closing in my neck of the woods this morning, and daughter #3 called while she was here to tell me she got a new job paying almost double what the old one did.
It's always good to know your kids are handling their shit. I have too many friends that can't say the same.
No granddaughter, but I saw videos of her running (she skipped walking) singing some made up baby song and her swimming at swim school.

I agree Maddog. To know your kids (and in my case grandkids now) are happy and managing well, it's a great feeling.

And of course I planted a little seed in my daughters head how it would be cool if she moved closer. 😉

 How far away are they?
I am lucky, Son and family are literally only 10 minutes drive away. One grandson is 20 mins...the other one is in Leeds 52 miles away. but he is planning on buying a house nearer Manchester, which will be great.

Daughter 1 is near Houston, 200 miles away..
Â
#2 is in Dallas about 45 miles away. That's the one that could move here, but it's doubtful..
Â
#3 is near Austin about 150 miles away.Â

Quite a distance, hopefully your motorways don't get as crowded, or jammed up with roadworks, as ours do.

I 35 is legendary for its never ending construction..
 Barely.Â
Â
But our mailboxes are 5 miles from our front doors.Â
Â
And since you brought this up the other day, I had to share since it popped up on my Facebook page. Â

We went from 20 to 30 million people in the last 20 years.Â
Â
That's a hell of a lot of new folks on our roads.Â
Â
The construction is understandable, but still irritating. Â
Truth hurts.
Hot aa balls here today. Triple digits.
Yesterday I changed two tires for a friend of mines employee, who managed to find the curb in the wee hours of the morning.
I think I may be getting old. Doing that in the heat of the day, kicked my ass.
Of course it was unshaded, on black top or asphalt, where the temps are likely 120° a few feet off the ground (where the tires are)..

I have a cousin in town from Indiana.
We are meeting my sister on her boat and going sailing.
Hope the water doesn't start to boil with the record temps they are predicting today.
I was sorta looking forward to it with regular temps of say 95.
107 is stupid..
