Ordinary people have little power, especially where they are ruled by despots.
Everyone I know would like to get rid of Starmer and his party, no doubt millions in the US would like to get rid of Trump....at least we get the chance every few years, in the Middle East they don't have that luxury.

That's sorta true, but I think if the people of Gaza were serious they could reform their government to look like the West Bank, Jordan or Egypt.
Perfect? Absolutely not.
But better than the trash they have running Gaza that perpetually lobs rockets into Israel in an attempt to create more martyrs and gather more international sympathy for a lost cause..

Something has to give, not sure what, if anyone had the answers this conflict would have ended decades ago.

The answer is to behave like yall do with Ireland.
Accept that N Ireland is part of the UK, and focus on serving the people under their respective governments and stop blowing up others..
Almost every country in the Middle East has moved on from needing to destroy Israel..Hell Jordan is pretty much their ally..
It's time for the people of Gaza to do the same. And it's time for people to insist on nothing else but that, from them..

England v Ireland, I don't recall us, in recent times blowing up innocents in Ireland, I do recall the IRA blowing up women and children here though.
The Manchester bomb, I heard it from 7 miles away ,it was a miracle no one was killed.
We are a pretty forgiving country as of late.

That was my point though. When Ireland stopped and accepted the border as it is, peace was achieved..
Like with the IRA, the ball is in Hamas's corner..

Yes, but when one side wont talk, as the IRA wouldn't reason for many years, the killing just goes on.
I don't recall Britain destroying Ireland because of it.

No, but the IRA didn't launch rockets into England..
But the Nazis did. And you responded accordingly.
I think people get upset with Israel being so much better at waging war than Hamas. Hamas knows what will happen, and are actually counting on that happening. They sacrifice their own people for the negative coverage of Israel..

Bombs kill people and destroy property, just as rockets do. I'm sure if the IRA had rockets to hand they would have used them.
Yes we responded to the Nazis, but you can hardly compare WW2 to the Irish vendetta against the Brits.

I'm comparing a few thousand rockets a year out of Gaza to the rockets from Germany.
How many rockets do you think you would have tolerated out of Ireland? How many kids kidnapped at concerts?
And, I'm sure the Irish government had plenty of rockets. But unlike the government of Gaza, they didn't use them..
All of this is the fault of the government of Gaza and it never ends until they are replaced..

The IRA were not the Irish government.
Yes it's the fault of Gaza government, but I still think the way Israel have reacted is like cracking a peanut with a sledgehammer. The Palestinians have had nowhere to go. Over 46,000 Palestinian civilians, mainly women and children, have been reported to have been killed so far.
When people claim genocide is happening, they have a point.

Can Hamas even be called a 'Government'? I think when other countries try to intervene in the internal politics of another country it always ends badly. I get that Hamas are a threat as the Islamist tentacles are now spready too widely over the world, but perhaps the people of a country have to fight for their own freedom instead of running away. It might take decades and many deaths, as seen throughout human history but that's how you get freedom.

I wouldn't want them back either. Did you see the masses of Gaza exulting over the 7th October deaths?

While there are a lot of innocents in the situation, Hamas can't exist without strong support from the people of Gaza.
Meanwhile, there are still hostages from October 7.

Yes there are, and two wrongs don't make a right.
Get the hostages back, poor things must be suffering if not dead now!
Once they're back, then negotiate, but please get them back.

Meanwhile, this is why Trump wants out of NATO.
Most NATO members are not meeting their spending requirements and we make up the slack, which is kinda silly because we aren't living near Russia.

The problem with people fighting for their own country is, as you say, many deaths, and the strongest will always win, till it flares up again, rinse and repeat.
Other countries do intervene, as they have in WW1 and WW2...and no one wants a third.
I don't have the answer... but to see the innocents killed in their tens of thousands, and with the support of millions, it's sickening.
