The latest worry is HMOs - houses of multiple occupation. So when (if) asylum hotels get shut down, they will be moved into shared houses on residential streets. So many horror stories going around of where this is already happening.
People who have lived here all their lives, suddenly having 10-12 undocumented males of 'fighting age' (to quote Farage) living next door. Staring at their house, cat calling their daughters.
A Houston-area imam has sparked both outrage and concern after launching a campaign to pressure Muslim-owned stores to stop selling pork, alcohol, and lottery tickets.
The campaign, led by Imam F. Qasim ibn Ali Khan of Masjid At-Tawhid, was captured in a viral video showing him confronting a store employee and accusing the business of selling 'haram' products forbidden under Islamic law.
Khan, who leads a Nation of Islam-affiliated mosque warns business owners they will face boycotts and public protests if they refuse to comply.
He says a nationwide protest movement is set to begin specifically targeting Muslim businesses that violate Islamic teachings.
'We're kicking off a national protest and demonstration campaign against all Muslim businesses that have haram in their stores,' Khan says in the video, prompting critics to accuse him of importing 'Sharia patrol' tactics to Texas.

I think you'll find the typical Muslim in Texas to be fairly open minded about that stuff, that's why the Imam is upset with them.
I've said this before, we get different Muslims than you do.
And we know how to kick them the hell out if they act up.

In fact, Nation of Islam is comprised mostly of American born African Americans and its a black nationalist group.
Think Malcolm X or Muhammed Ali..
A lot of Muslims from the Middle East would consider them imposters. They aren't immigrants but the descendants of slaves, likly sold into slavery by Arab Muslims.
Funny old world ain't it?

Reminds me of the old joke:
A man walks into a corner shop and asks for some bacon.
"I'm sorry sir, it's against my religious sensitivities to handle pork products"
"Ok I'll just take a bottle of whiskey"
"I'm sorry sir, it's against my religious sensitivities to handle alcohol"
"How about one of those 12 year old whores you've got chained up in the basement and a gram of heroin?"
"Yes sir, coming right up"

"Mam was threatened with baseball bat"
Leading contender for the deputy Labour leader position, Bridget Phillipson, is trying to 'out Rayner' Rayner with her tales of a rough start to life.
She has announced her bid as "a proud working-class woman from the North East from a single-parent family" and "I grew up on a street of council houses in Washington, in the North East - just me and my mam,"

On September 11, 2001, nineteen Arab Muslim men hijacked four airplanes and flew them into two of the greatest icons of power in the United States—the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. Nearly three thousand people were killed

Just when it couldn't get any worse for Starmer, his US ambassador, Peter Mandelson, is under scrutiny for his association with Jeffrey Epstein, whom he referred to as his 'best pal'
Mandelson 'deeply regrets' (I bet he does) that association and has said that 'more revalations' will come out about their friendhip.

Those were not typical Muslims, and we have learned a bit since then.
Obviously not every immigrant is well behaved, but we don't have a crisis with immigrants draining our resources by being treated like royalty, while they groom our children.
We have more issues with people born here.
Your dangerous areas are in areas with high populations of immigrants. Ours are in areas of people that have been here for generations..

I get the impression that Americans view Muslims the same way Brits view Mexicans, and Americans view Mexicans the same way Brits view Muslims.

I would say most Americans don't have near as much problem with Mexicans as Brits have with Muslims.
Do you have migrants working their asses off in fields picking vegetables or mowing your yards when it's 100 degrees out?
Mexicans come here to work because we don't have a safety net for them..

I always thought there was an anti-Mexican sentiment in the US.
You have a similar illegal immigrant issue with them as we do with Muslims, but I agree that ours is far worse at the moment.

There is some old school racism left, but most of our issues are centered around illegal immigration..
We still have plenty of legal immigration and most folks are fine with it.
While our immigrants can be strain on a few of our services, they really have to work to survive.
We don't have high crime areas of unemployed immigrants living on welfare, especially young men.
Our native born do that.

For starters, migrants aren't allowed to work here until they've been formally processed and accepted. All our corner shops are run by muslims and they are notorious for working all hours.

I realize that. Which is down to the way your government handles the problem.
How many would cross the channel if no government aid awaited them?.

Most folk here would be fine with legal immigration, providing the numbers were sensible and we were selective as to who we let in, ie skilled workers who can speak English or can prove they will be taking English lessons. Immediate families only, spouse and kids, and not extended families.
If your Mexican immgrants didn't pick fruit and mow lawns, but did nothing at all, and were put up for free in luxury hotels, or allowed to queue jump locals for free social housing. Were given free food, clothes, phones, and spending money, were heavily protected by the police and courts, and intimidated the local women and girls - the resentment levels towards them would be similar to what we currently have in the UK.
I would swap Starmer for Trump in a heartbeat.

I understand all of that. It's not really immigration but your governments idiocy in dealing with it.
That's why I said many posts back that we get a different kind of immigrant here. While I don't support the illegal ones, i sort of respect them for coming here and having to support themselves..
