I had both cataracts removed last year, I didn't even know I had a problem till I went for new glasses.
I was dreading it, because when it comes to eyes i am squeamish, but it was so quick and painless, I am now still using my old glasses and just for close work, I don't need distance glasses at all.
Vam, yours sounds more serious than cataract removal, I hope everything goes well next week, let us know how you get on.

Went to an eye specialist for some tests today. Won‘t go into detail cos it’s boring, but it seems I could have a steadily progressing problem…
😲 I do hope it's not as bad as that. Maybe the hospital can do tests?
Aww…thanks Mags (& Anony) 🙂
I‘ve been experiencing significant vision loss in one eye over the last couple of years or so. Can barely see a thing with that eye, without a specialised lens in my specs. The plan now seems to be to stop the vision deterioration from spreading to my other eye.
I’ll know more next week, after I go get more scans and another CT - so, 🤞🏻🤞🏻 😉

All the best Vam.
I had a bit of a scare at the options last year.
Left eye not quite right and option wouldn't write me up for new specs till I'd been to the eye hospital to find out what was going on.
Two weeks later the hospital tell me I have a small cataract but he said he wasn't going to do anything about it as the problem was so small and his mothers cataract was twice the size of mine and she didn't need anything doing yet.
Cut sugar out of your life and your eyesight should hopefully last longer.
TY, Jack (that’s TXT-speak for thank you, by the way 😜😂)
It‘s the unknown that can be scary, right.? I’d rather just be told what’s ahead, and deal with it then.

Cataract removal can be life-changing. I know loads of folks (all ages) who have had it done - and have never looked back, so to speak 😉 I’m glad it all worked out well for you, too.
Hopefully, it’ll be as simple a solution as that for me. I’m staying with family at the moment, so it’s all good for now. Thanks, Syl ☺️

Since you have an eye issue, I'll stop with the eye roll..
It's not from diabetes is it?

Nope, I’m not diabetic. In fact, circling back to what Jack said earlier, I’m very rarely into sugary/starchy stuff.
That said, I did have a small scoop of pistacchio ice cream after lunch today. It’s the only ice cream flavour I like.

That's good. I have friend who developed type 1 well into his fifties..It's under control with medication and a sensible diet. While most diabetes is lifestyle related some folks just get a bad draw.
He's 140 pounds soaking wet and cycles a couple hundred miles every week. He's the last person you would suspect has it.
On the other hand it's getting more common in China and India because you can overdo the rice especially combined with more sugary foods becoming more available..

I have discovered a great way to get quick service.
OH ordered some decking oil on Friday the 25th, in the afternoon around 1pm....got an email saying it would be delivered on Monday the 28th. Discovered he already had some in the garage....tried to cancel at 3pm. Got a message the item had already been posted on the 26th...odd, because it was still only the 25th.
Anyway, it turned up yesterday, which was the 26th....fastest service he has ever had.

You never irritate me, Mags...apart from when you kept writing the quiz questions wrong.

My cooker gave up the ghost 2 weeks ago...got a new one.
Now my convertable won't convert...again....so we are driving it round with the top down, which is great in this weather, but it won't go up again, and the boot won't open, so we are limited in where we can park it.
It's time for a change, I have had it for 12 years....but I love it.

@ Mags, Syl, Jack and everyone who kindly asked… I was really dreading to hear the words ‘macular degeneration’ in my right eye. That’s a condition that can quite rapidly progress and spread to both eyes, and can lead to blindness.
But thankfully, tests showed just a relatively minor issue caused by a thickening of the retina. A quick blast of laser treatment was all it took to clear that up.
Job done, and it‘s all good

That's good news Vam, I can't imagine how relieved you are.
It takes something like that to put into perspective how the trivia we sometimes fret over is so unimportant.

Thanks Mags, I took that last night around 7pm...it was still about 26c. We are so lucky this year with the early weather...long may it last.
The car can't be fixed....it's going in the garage tomorrow to see if a mechanic can get the top down so the boot can be shut. Sadly, it'll have to stay closed.
