People are not just forgotten once they die. Memories live on in the hearts and minds of families and friends you knew when you were alive.

But there'll be no one alive who remembers anything about the people in those vids.
Oh I remember Joes saving up to buy a car he worked two jobs to do it.
Mary had nine kids and was a terrible mother to those children and never stopped biting her nails we think she had mental health problems.
Remember that time he got a flat tyre three hundred miles from home and ended up ditching the car and getting busses and when he went back the car was gone?
David was so good at school he put all the other kids in the shade.
Remember when he had an accident in the park?
All the everyday things that make people who and what they are gone... no one remembers them.
When you become a grainy image on a film or on some photographs how long will there be people around who look at those images and say yeah I remember when Syl worked at that club in the city and I remember Digger dancing.

That's true.
But there isn't a person older than my grandparents that I would recognize, unless they are famous.
I don't even know the names of my great grandparents.
So yeah, we are remembered by people that knew us, but as time marches on, images of us will be like ghosts to people in the future.
Unless I do something crazy and get my picture in Wikipedia or some shit..

I'm probably going to have to do something a bit more noteworthy.
Like Thomas Crapper. I don't know what he looks like, but it's hard to forget him.

It's good Crappers name wasn't Smith or Jones...it doesn't have the same ring to it.

I'm reminded of a line from a Tom Waits song...
A long dead soldier looks out From the frame No one remembers his war No one remembers his name

So Maw and Paw have made it to 58 years married today.
Paw was in the bad books because he didn't think a card was necessary, he thought flowers would suffice!!
He's bought a card so all is forgiven!!

Congratulations to your Mum and Dad.
I bet they have seen a lot of ups and downs, love and laughter in those 58 years.

Thanks Syl, they have.
We were talking about the time my mum got bad sunburn not long after they were married, they were in holiday and she was in agony and sent my dad to get some cream from the chemist.
They were closing and he grabbed the first cream he saw, fake tan!!
She ended with sunburn and brown patches!!
😂

Do you know what happened?
They went out for their dinner and then phoned a taxi, waited ages and then it finally turned up.
The driver asked their name and said "That's a coincidence, I've just taken a family called that home" the rotten swines and pinched their taxi!!
🙄

I love stories like that, and when you have been together for so long, you have plenty of them.
We tell our grandkids about the time that grandad did this, or nana did that, and they love it.

I used to love visiting my dad's eldest sister because she was ten years older than him and just listen to all her stories about things that had happened over the years.
Visits to her house were always good.
