Personally I couldn't stand Thatcher, she seemed to never listen to anyone, when she said 'The ladies not for turning' that's exactly what she meant, sod the consequences. But in light of how the country is being run into the ground over the last years, we could do with someone like her back in power again.
I would hate a Trump style leader over here, he encourages hate. We have weak leaders, but they don't encourage hatred and a them v us mentality in the same way as Trumps government does. I have a feeling if Reform gets in, in 2029, we will be going down the same road as the Americas ....and that's a scary thought.

I do agree that Muslim laws being forced on women in order to control and repress is not acceptable in this country but I respect Muslim women who want to follow the doctrine of their own free will.
I understand people's fears about immigration I do, and Starmer is a wet lettuce. But Reform and leaving the European Court of human rights is not the way, just the thought of giving up our freedoms and being totally isolated scares me. Farage is also woefully dishonest, still waiting for the 20 million he promised the NHS. Now, I do believe if he re entered parliament, he would stand a good chance of being elected, and if he was acting in his own interest, I doubt he should consider it at this time.

It's a turbulent time for all since Covid no doubt. But other countries have recovered far better than us. Obviously Brexit is the reason as it cost us a lot more to trade.
Other nations outside of the EU have strong economies - many stronger than the EU, while several nations within the EU have dreadful economies (e.g. Greece). So it is not "Brexit" that is the cause of Britain's current economic malaise. There are other factors involved.
One of which is the cost of energy. When Boris Johnson prevented Ukraine from agreeing a peace deal with Russia he said that for him as Prime Minister of Great Britain the most important policy for him was supporting Ukraine to defeat Russia and everything else including the British economy was secondary.
Then he with his militaristic allies in the Biden Administration and allies within the EU placed enormous sanctions on Great British companies and British energy suppliers by stopping them from buying cheap Russian Oil and Gas that had powered a lot of the British economy - while also turning off most of the remaining British Coal Fired power stations.
