Leicester is now back in lockdown and a potential new Flu virus with Pandemic potential has just been discovered in China.
Not dangerous yet but highly concerning nonetheless.
Due to our destruction of the natural world and disgusting treatment of wild and domestic animals in general it has been predicted such events will become more and more common in the coming decades.

Is anyone surprised? Nature has a way of biting back.
There might be a few more towns going on 2 weeks lockdown. Just see once the pubs
and restaurants go back.
When I see your avi in peripheral vision I keep thinking it's a Puffin!

When face coverings in shops and supermarkets have to be worn from July 24th, will you be accepting of this?
If you see someone flouting the rule, will you speak out, stay quiet, or take yours off too because you don't like being told what to do and if he isn't wearing one why should you?

My take on events is this.
Apparently the shops won't let people in if they aren't covered up.
And as per really during this crisis it'll be a game of two halves. Some folks won't really complain they'll just put a face covering on and get on with it. Others will complain and hate the idea.
Ministers apparently also didn't reach a consensus on this one. Reading between the lines I think Boris basically had to make the final decision seeing as there was no consensus. Gove didn't like it. I bet Rishi didn't either. You can imagine some ministers saying it will have an affect on the economy and keep some people out of shops. Obviously not including supermarkets, people have to eat. Other shops though.
The murmurings from scientists seem to have changed of late they appear more in favour of general public face coverings right now than they were. The decision was no doubt made based on that. And also based on a anything at all that may help keep the virus at low levels policy is worth adding into the mix.

As over 67,400 have been diagnosed with COVID-19 in the US within the last 24 hours (and 140,000 dead so far) is this a rather obvious move to manipulate the data?
I would put nothing past Trump in his quest for re-election.
Will we see the reported infection rate and daily deaths suddenly plummet just as they are soaring again thanks to his disgusting disregard for American life?
'It's a miracle' will say the Trump supporters, how the fuck has the US got themselves into this mess?

If it does it would be too obvious.
I could name one or two other Countries who's figures during this pandemic appeared to drop quite suddenly and too rapidly. It doesn't work that way.

His best chum and fellow wannabe Christo-fascist dictator Bolsonaro tried it but failed.
But I really have no faith in the US which is split down the middle either seeing Trump as the fucking Messiah or those who see him for what what he actually is - the worst POTUS in US history.
I am sure the environmentalists would agree with me as well after yet another disgusting move.

I suspect that at the start during the first two to three months when this virus was completely new!! Doctors would not have had a clue whether or not someone actually died directly of covid19. Any sniff whatsoever that even just one covid symptom was in the mix the DR would go onto mention covid19 on a person's death certificate regardless. Just on the off chance that covid19 was the main contributor to their death.
The ONS counting a covid death in their figures when covid has been merely just "mentioned" on a death certificate tells a story in itself. They should only be counting deaths as covid deaths when covid has been deemed the primary cause of death.
So yeah there are several ways that figures can turn out to be wrongly inflated.

It's getting very confusing now. Parts of greater Manchester are having surges in infections, yet today, the extra lockdown rules in places like Bolton and Trafford have been lifted. These decisions are being made in London, where obviously they have no clue as to what is happening further North. Andy Burnham is right in telling people to ignore government advice, they have no idea what they are doing..
"Restrictions on social gatherings for more than half a million people in two of England’s worst-hit areas have been lifted, despite councils warning the government it was too soon to lift the measures.
The government pressed ahead with the lifting of restrictions for more than 520,000 people in Bolton and Trafford in north-west England overnight despite a surge in the number of cases in both areas.
Andy Burnham, the mayor of Greater Manchester, on Wednesday criticised the decision as “completely illogical” and urged residents in the two boroughs to ignore government advice and continue to follow restrictions.
“We find ourselves in a completely unsustainable position this morning. That’s the politest way I can put it,” he told BBC Radio 4’s Today programme “Overnight we’ve had restrictions lifted in two boroughs with rising cases – in one case in the red zone – and neighbouring boroughs are still under restrictions but with much lower numbers of cases."

Seems to be running through the local university here. A lady friend of mine's daughter has it as well as all 3 of her roommates.
Her daughter is back home and in quarantine with her mother for two weeks.
The father of my godchildren had it as well as several of my daughters friends. Maybe a few more but I imagine some folks have had it and kept in the down low.
Good news is, dont know anyone who has died or suffered any long term problems.

British researchers have found another drug that helps higher percentages of people whom have serious covid illness to survive and pull through. The very well known drug hydrocortisone. Anything that is proven to increase the chances of survival is clearly a good thing.
It's also clearly good that these kinds of drugs are easily accessible right now in most parts of the World. Other Countries may want to conduct their own studies first, but I think many Countries will just fast track it. Trump for one has already said that about the other fairly recent discovery, dexamethasone.
Amazing what you can discover when you search and test hard!

They have done a quick U-turn because the Mayor of Manchester, who though Labour has supported the government since this virus first emerged, has been all over the BBC news advising the people in these areas to ignore the government advice, which WAS to lift the lockdown.
No one is expecting them to be mind readers, they should however listen to local councils who actually know more about what's happening in the areas they live in than someone down South who suddenly don't seem to know their arse from their elbow.

Meanwhile, the Aussies have gone bat shit crazy........................
Footage was shared online by a Miners Rest couple, northwest of Melbourne, on Wednesday afternoon.
As seen in the .video above, it shows the woman arguing with police, who claimed she was inciting people to protest the Victorian coronavirus lockdown this coming weekend.
Groups of anti-lockdown protesters have tabbed September 5 for a series of planned protests across the country.
Several other people have already been arrested and charged with incitement, including a 76-year-old man.
