 It's hot pot. 

You go to an Asian restaurant and there is a pot of broth in the middle of the table and you cook communally..

They are pretty common around me..

They have it in the UK. London anyway..

Unfortunately I don't get to eat out Asian much (or at all for years) OH hates Chinese, Indian, in fact....anything further away than the med, he is a very boring eater. 

I doubt whether I would order that greasy watery stuff though...it looks disgusting.

If something looks like greasy water with a chunk of spam boiling in it on one side, and watery tomato on the other....I will stick to what I know, thank you.
