Speaking of small boat crossings. Two people were either suffocated or drowned on a packed boat yesterday. Amazing that the vast majority of people who cross over illegally from France are male, yet the two who died are women.
Do we speak of anything else ?
But in seriousness, that is so tragic. It's because the women are desperate genuine refugees and packed on vessels that are probably unsafe. The men make sure they are alright.I
Why the women are coming here hoping for compassion I don't know. If they are genuine refugees I pray they stay in France. I'm ashamed of this country.
I was watching head of immigration in the US being interviewed. He is acting on behalf of Trump, and states that EVERY person who is traced that has entered the US illegally will be deported.
Women who have lived there for years, worked, married, had children, contributed to the country...they are treated the same as an illegal who has just entered, is of dubious character, and has no intention of contributing.
I don't want to live in a country that has no empathy for people who have made a good life for themselves here, and I certainly don't want to live in a country where women and children are deported back to a life of terror.

You don't have to have Starmer but you have to endorse critical thinking. Farage wants us to leave the European Courts of Human Rights. No other countries except Russia and Belarus have done this.Ask yourself, why not,? Really.
If you think there will be no consequences for you, or others, you will be sadly disappointed. Farage, Trump's friend didn't even state that swans were being eaten by immigrants. He actually said "What if I told you .." , so technically he was merely asking a question and can claim he hasn't said anything offensive about immigrants. But the seed has already been planted. Doubt in people's mind's, bigotry solidified in others.
Farage is going to be able to take people basic freedoms. Why didn't he say like Yvette Cooper, that the ECHR could be adjusted to ensure immigrants must be deported but ensure we obviously as British people are allowed to keep our human rights? Because if you don't care about keeping your human rights he sure as He'll won't. Farage is a millionaire, Trump's mate, and all he cares about is profit.
If he is so trustworthy where is a the 2 million he promised the NHS? He was the Pied piper of Brexit who led you all a merry dance and now you are allowing him to lie to you all over again. You do recall that Brexit was meant to reduce immigration? It's got ten times worse! Think of logic, not emotion.
If you vote Reform that's fine day goodbye to your human rights but the rest of the leftie "go along to get along " Brits have finally had enough. That Snake oil salesman is not stealing our rights.
He doesn't have to Starmer has. We have no rights, no freedom of speech, and we are in ECHR.
Snake oil salesman? Lol, I would give that title to Starmer and all liebour MPs.
Brexit promised much, but Boris did a bad deal and we got nothing from it. Would I vote Brexi t now, not a chance.
Then what are you exercising now?
You have no idea what the reality would be. You say you wouldn't vote Brexit now but you did because Go be and Farage told you immigration would plummet. He knew it wouldn't. He tells people what they want to her and slinks away when all.goes wrong.
As for Boris ruining leaving the EU, you're not in The EU so you got just what you.voted for. If you wanted extra bells and whistles, it doesn't work like that.

Yes and it's disgusting.
There was the Windrush scandal, and Gurkhas threatened with deportation, probably many individual cases like the woman you mentioned, people who are forced to leave and their cases dont even make the newspapers.
Yet we keep on allowing thousands of illegal boat people in, shelter them, house and keep them, and even if they do want to contribute and are not here for shadier reasons, they cant.

Angela Merkel caused the migrant crisis. If it was down to Brexit then there wouldn't be the huge influx of migrants to most European countries. We were part of Europe when she invited them all in, so had no choice but to open our doors.

Yes, the loss of the Dublin Regulation. But whether we like it or not Brexit happened, so instead of the nation whinging about it, we have to get on with it and make the best of it. This finger pointing pearl clutching blame game is what makes me despise politicians the most. If someone entered the country illegally and has 'made a life for themself here', but gets found out - hard luck! Their time here has been a bonus for them, and it doesn't mean that they should be allowed to continue living here illegally. If someone came here legally, has contributed, and will meet any new requirements, then they are more than welcome to stay. I'm all for that type of immigrant living here.
It's often pointed out that the NHS would 'collapse' without immigrant hospital workers, but what is usually overlooked when people bring that up, is the number of immigrant patients that those immigrant doctors and nurses spend time and taxpayers money on. If there were fewer immigrant doctors and nurses, but also fewer immigrant patients, would the NHS really collapse? It would certainly be a lot different to how it is now.
In any case, most of the skilled immigrant hospital workers would meet the required criteria, and be allowed to stay here, but I suspect a fair chunk of the immigrant patients wouldn't. So if Reform get in and go ahead with their deportation plans, you have to think that it will be a positive for the NHS and not a negative.

AMEN to that! 🎯👏🏻👏🏻
The problem is, most politicians are clueless these days. There was a time when a career in public service used to generally attract intelligent, competent people who had the relevant credentials and experience to efficiently do the job. A job ‘in government‘ was viewed as a pretty safe option as a long-term career choice.
Nowadays, the turmoil and instability we’re seeing in the Uk, Europe and the US makes potential qualified candidates uncertain/reluctant to step up. Who can be arsed, when their job security could be at risk from one day to the next?
The very real side effect of that, is that countries end up attracting mediocre underachievers to run their governments - Starmer being a perfect example!

I have only just realised he is planning to do this. Farage is going to force foreigners who have been here for decades, payed taxes, had families, and made a life for themselves to apply for visa 's every five years...!
What has that got to do with halting immigration?? If foreign people have stayed in this country and worked and contributed for years and he intends to kick them out if they don't meet certain criteria he will split up families.
He is making foreigners who have made a life here leave just because they are foreign. That IS a racist policy. I had no idea yesterday!

They have not been here "illegally "! He is kicking out people who have been here LEGALLY for decades and had families, played taxes, contributed to society just because they are foreign.
That is racist because it has nothing to do with immigration. He is going to make people leave the country for no other reason than being foreign, people who have been born here. This is their home ffs. How are they any different to you?
The Reform UK policy to abolish indefinite leave to remain (ILR) and force immigrants to reapply for five-year visas, while making it harder to obtain citizenship, was also rounded on by industry for threatening economic growth, and by NHS chiefs as a “kick in the teeth” for health and care workers that could bring the sector to its knees.

So what if they have to apply for a visa every five years. They do it anyway at the moment every five or ten years in order to stay here. Hopefully, it will weed out the scroungers. Every Brit that gets to 70 has to re-apply every three years for a right to drive in this country whether we like it or not. Tough shit if we don't like it. The way the system is right now is very unfair on those migrants who come through the legal channels. How do you think they feel when they get pushed to the back of the queue when boatloads are coming here free of charge?
Over a million foreign nationals claimed UC in the UK as of June 2025, with the total number of migrants on the benefit increasing significantly from 906,000 in June 2022 to 1.27 million by June 2025. Of these, 737,799 were unemployed and 510,970 were in work, with the majority being EU nationals and a surge in non-EU nationals
His aim to make young people work is another thing I agree with. There's too many of them think it's OK to scrounge off mum and dad or sit on their arses all day. I see gangs of 20 somethings every single day where I live walking around aimlessly. Not a one of them working.
If you chose to go live in a country with laws you didn't like, what would you do?

Totally agree. He is only deporting those who came here, never worked and got benefits.for years. Also nurses,.i.know lots of girls who wanted to train for.nursing years ago, my daughter for one, couldn't get in because of foreigners coming over, they came first.
In Leicester only half the population speaks English, nobody has bothered to learn our language, same.in London.
I'm not against the workers but those men coming in, do nothing. They march up.the beach like the army. Something very sinister is going on.
Um, no he isn't! He isn't even pretending to do that!He is deporting people who have lived here for decades and have paid taxes , have families and are working here..They are no different to anyone else.
Why do you want people who happen to be foreign and lived and worked here all their life to be made to leave?? And as for your story about nurses..The NHS needs more nurses hence why legal immigration has gone up...there aren't enough British Nurses. No body denies this.
There aren't enough British nurses because they totally changed the entry criteria. Today you have to have a degree and fork out thousands to get into nursing. The total cost for a typical three to four year degree is approximately £27,750 to £37,000. Other countries charge significantly less. Years ago, when the NHS really was an efficient machine, you just had to take an entry test and pass an interview to start at the lowest level then work your way up.

Nor do I Syl.
That's why I pray Burnham gets in. There is four years to turn things around thankfully.
It happens here though. There was that woman who lived here for 27 years, got married and they deported her.

"This time round we know how dishonest and ruthless Farage is. It was always going to make the country poorer but Farage and Gove insisted that wouldn't last.It has. It is also the main reason we cannot deport immigrants. You know this. Prior to Brexit we could return migrants who had come from France back to France whilst we processed their application. Brexit has stopped us being able to do that so of course the amounts of immigrants have tripled! Due to Brexit we have to house them all."
She is 100% correct.
Farage and UKIP led the fight to exit the EU. Leaving the EU has caused the present dire immigration crisis.
Now Farage is back, convincing people he has the answer to immigration....the problem he made far worse in the first place.
Watch any reform speaker when they have a platform. Good example is Richard Tice, recently shown up to be bloody clueless on last weeks 'Question Time'. He, like Farage is banking on the fact that the UK is being led by the buffoon Starmer to open the door for them come the next election....and if things stay the same as they are, they will win.
Angela Merkel caused the migrant crisis. If it was down to Brexit then there wouldn't be the huge influx of migrants to most European countries. We were part of Europe when she invited them all in, so had no choice but to open our doors.
Poland forcibly returns illegal immigrants.
Finland has passed a controversial law that allows refusing entry to refugees. The law directly violates the constitution, but was passed by a majority of the parliament under the slogan of protecting national security. This approach demonstrates a new trend: states consider migration an element of a hybrid threat, not just a humanitarian issue.
German border police have been ordered to refuse to accept new asylum applications.
The Austrian parliament has temporarily suspended the rule on family reunification. Although there are exceptions for minors, Vienna insists that the new measures are a response to the overloading of social infrastructures, including schools.
Austrian Chancellor Christian Stoker explicitly stated that the current asylum rules are “not fit for purpose” and blamed them for the increase in youth crime and the social burden on schools
Austria has joined a group of countries calling for a revision of the European Convention on Human Rights in terms of migration. The government is seeking to gain more powers to deport migrants it considers a threat.
The Belgian government is acting harshly, but formally within the framework of European law. Single men seeking asylum are not always provided with housing.
Nine EU countries, including Italy, Denmark, Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Belgium, the Czech Republic, and Austria, signed a joint letter to the Council of Europe. They called for a “new conversation” on the application of the European Convention on Human Rights in migration issues. The document states that the current interpretation of the norms limits the sovereignty of countries and restrains them in matters of security.
Yes, the loss of the Dublin Regulation. But whether we like it or not Brexit happened, so instead of the nation whinging about it, we have to get on with it and make the best of it. This finger pointing pearl clutching blame game is what makes me despise politicians the most. Instead of getting on with running the fucking country and trying to implement positive outcomes they spend all their time blaming each other with indulgent dick waving. They need to grow the fuck up.
No doubt it's a multi sided problem, but five years ago the UK had the option to return asylum seekers from whence they came from.
Now, even though we pay France millions, no one is interested in accepting them back, why should they help us when we left the EU?
Thankfully, Starmer has now solved that problem, with his one in one out scheme.

They shoehorn it in at every opportunity.

Nigel Farage’s plan to scrap the right for immigrants to settle in the UK without citizenship could separate parents from children and husbands from wives, experts have warned.

My story?! I'm not making anything up, it's true. Maybe it doesn't fit in your view, but it's true so don't say it's a story!
I haven't said I want those who worked here to leave, read what I said. I want those who came and claiming without working, They should go! I'm sick.if them coming in boats and getting everything,!
