If someone entered the country illegally and has 'made a life for themself here', but gets found out - hard luck! Their time here has been a bonus for them, and it doesn't mean that they should be allowed to continue living here illegally. If someone came here legally, has contributed, and will meet any new requirements, then they are more than welcome to stay. I'm all for that type of immigrant living here.
It's often pointed out that the NHS would 'collapse' without immigrant hospital workers, but what is usually overlooked when people bring that up, is the number of immigrant patients that those immigrant doctors and nurses spend time and taxpayers money on. If there were fewer immigrant doctors and nurses, but also fewer immigrant patients, would the NHS really collapse? It would certainly be a lot different to how it is now.
In any case, most of the skilled immigrant hospital workers would meet the required criteria, and be allowed to stay here, but I suspect a fair chunk of the immigrant patients wouldn't. So if Reform get in and go ahead with their deportation plans, you have to think that it will be a positive for the NHS and not a negative.
Totally agree. He is only deporting those who came here, never worked and got benefits.for years. Also nurses,.i.know lots of girls who wanted to train for.nursing years ago, my daughter for one, couldn't get in because of foreigners coming over, they came first.
In Leicester only half the population speaks English, nobody has bothered to learn our language, same.in London.
I'm not against the workers but those men coming in, do nothing. They march up.the beach like the army. Something very sinister is going on.
Um, no he isn't! He isn't even pretending to do that!He is deporting people who have lived here for decades and have paid taxes , have families and are working here..They are no different to anyone else.
Why do you want people who happen to be foreign and lived and worked here all their life to be made to leave?? And as for your story about nurses..The NHS needs more nurses hence why legal immigration has gone up...there aren't enough British Nurses. No body denies this.
He's declaring that if migrants have never claimed benefits and are earning a decent wage thereby paying taxes, it won't be a problem.
Reform states EU nationals who have settled status would not lose it under the policy. Reform said it would seek to renegotiate a UK-EU Brexit deal under which EU nationals in Britain access benefits. The aim is for only UK citizens to get welfare. And that's how it should be. It is also the main reason we cannot deport immigrants. You know this. Prior to Brexit we could return migrants who had come from France back to France whilst we processed their application. Brexit has stopped us being able to do that so of course the amounts of immigrants have tripled! Due to Brexit we have to house them all."
She is 100% correct.
Farage and UKIP led the fight to exit the EU. Leaving the EU has caused the present dire immigration crisis. Now Farage is back, convincing people he has the answer to immigration....the problem he made far worse in the first place.
Watch any reform speaker when they have a platform. Good example is Richard Tice, recently shown up to be bloody clueless on last weeks 'Question Time'. He, like Farage is banking on the fact that the UK is being led by the buffoon Starmer to open the door for them come the next election....and if things stay the same as they are, they will win.
Thank you for noticing this Syl.
Before ,people could say they were were conned by Farage when they voted for Brexit. Most people voted for Brexit to leave the EU certainly but also to reduce immigration. Farage and his ilk knew immigration would not necessarily improve if the right terms were not agreed yet they convinced the public immigration would decrease. As we know, Brexit has turned immigration from a problem into a crisis.
Now the same voters are turning to Farage again to solve immigration no matter what the cost to the country ethically or financially, knowing he has lied in the past.
They are happy to see women returned to the Taliban.
They are happy to give up all basic human rights, not update the ECHR but just totally give up basic rights on pay, sick leave, pensions etc. Only two other countries on the planet have done this, Russia and Belarus.I
They are happy to see LEGAL immigrants who have been working, paying taxes who made a life here with their families for decades potentially be forced to leave. This is not just a cruel twist to their campaign, Reform are openly admitting they don't like foreigners, any foreigners , and that is discrimination.
Starmer didn't actually call Reform voters racist, he said the above policy was. I think if people are willing to do all that just to get rid of foreign people a proportion of them must be racist. We are turning into America.

It was hard for British girls to get trained as nurses in the past, maybe it still is, for various reasons.
If anyone can explain the 4th reason given, that could be helpful.
The preference for foreign nurses over training British nurses can be attributed to several factors:
Despite people flocking to Reform in their droves, Starmer has said on the BBC that Reform's plans to remove immigrants are 'immoral and racist' - way to go Sir Keir and alienate yourself even further from the electorate! He looks even more pro-migrant now than before - which isn't a good look to have in the current climate.
"Responding to Sir Keir's comments, Reform UK's Zia Yusuf said: "Labour's message to the country is clear: pay hundreds of billions for foreign nationals to live off the state forever, or Labour willcall you racist."
"Reform's plan will ensure only British people can access welfare and that migrants contribute to society."
Nope. More lies from Reform. Starmer actually said that Reform voters were NOT racist, but that Reform's one policy was.

Climate change is the reason why illegals are invading...straight from the Jack-ass’s mouth…

The preference for foreign nurses over training British nurses can be attributed to several factors:
All I know is successive governments have invited legal migrants to work in the NHS for some time now Syl, because there aren't enough British people for the jobs. Nursing is one of the occupations that legal.migrants have been asked to come here for.
I wasn't saying Mags made anything up. I'm sure what she said is true. But it isn't representative of most of the NHS..
The reason Farage is deporting migrant doctors, nurses who.have lived here for years is precisely so the NHS will collapse and people have no choice but to go private. That's my theory at least. That or he cannot abide foreign people. It's an odd policy imo. People who contribute , pay taxes and have families and friends here should be left alone in my view, he is literally copying America. It is a cruel policy which will have no bearing on immigration.
I think point 1 probably explains point 4. There aren't enough British Nurses and this is the main problem.

I don't advocate violence but those woke lefties who want them here, don't care what the boat people are doing to girls and women. So let them be the victims.not some child.
He said the illegals who never worked, not those who have. My friend does 3 jobs, she came from Nigeria as a child. She works hard to support her three children in University. Another friend is muslim Turkish origin. They are both sick of the boats and those who have come here and just claim. So yes I want the lazy ones to go, not hard workers who have contributed to our country,I have nothing against them.

No one will deny that without foreign born nurses, doctors, medics in general, the NHS would not have been the huge success it has been for 70 plus years.
But as someone mentioned before, now both foreign born and british NHS workers treat foreign patients seemingly a lot more than they treat English patients.
Having spent a lot of time in various hospital departments, both for myself and others, I can categorically say that in my experience over the last 15 years, the vast majority of patients waiting to be seen in hospitals are black or Asian.
That's not a racist statement...it's a fact.
Often they have translators with them, so obviously newly arrived, which considering many bred and born brits are waiting years for badly needed ops, seems to be grossly unfair.

. Foreigners working and paying taxes will be asked to review their Visa every 5 years despite believing this was now their home. Apparently "settled EU" citizens will be fine.
I understand.
So Reform wants non white migrants out who have stayed and made a home here.Of course that's not racist at all.
Key Non-EU Nationalities in the NHS
Indian Nationals: Since 2005, Indians have been the most common nationality among non-EU migrants to the UK, accounting for about 25% of all non-EU arrivals since 2021. Many Indian healthcare professionals, including doctors and nurses, have joined the NHS, particularly in response to the demand for skilled workers.
Nigerian Nationals: Nigeria has also emerged as a significant source of healthcare professionals. Many Nigerian doctors and nurses have migrated to the UK, contributing to various specialties within the NHS.
Filipino Nationals: The Philippines is known for producing a large number of nurses who migrate to the UK. Filipino nurses are highly regarded for their skills and dedication, and they make up a substantial portion of the nursing workforce in the NHS.
Pakistani Nationals: Pakistan has a long history of sending healthcare professionals to the UK, including doctors and nurses, who are integral to the NHS.

I watched the Starmer Laura Kinsburgh interview....apart from the quite touching story about why he bought his mum a field at the bottom of her garden for the donkeys she loved when she was disabled and unable to get out, nothing else he said convinced me one iota that he is capable of running the country.
And he squirmed a bit when Andy Burnham was mentioned.

These factors contribute to the ongoing reliance on international nurses in the UK healthcare system, highlighting the complex and multifaceted nature of recruitment practices in the NHS.
Nope. More lies from Reform.
Starmer actually said that Reform voters were NOT racist, but that Reform's one policy was.

It's not fair to throw people out of their homes who.have lived here for decades. These people have nothing to do with boats Mags! He wants to make some of the legal migrants leave who.now consider here their home, genuine people with families who were asked to come to this country by the successive governments, usually to work in the NHS or as care assistants. There is a shortage of British workers in these particular occupations.
There is a shortage of British Nurses, surgeons, cleaners and mental health doctors, hence why it's been.noted so many times that most of the NHS staff aren't British. Younger brits won't deign to be cleaners or care assistants and it's well known.without legal.immigrants the NHS would collapse. Which is what Farage hopes for. He wants ,as many right wing politicians do, for us to pay for our healthcare so they can tax it.
When I said" story", I meant another word for "account". I wouldn't accuse you of lying. I never said you made anything up
You said on the Trump thread you hope" lefties are the next to be ra*ed or murdered by immigrants " and that shocked me . I know it's an emotive subject for us both Mags but I don't dislike you.
Was that from Google AI? Best to treat some of the stuff it comes out with with a pinch of salt. Remember the stats it gave me the other week where you spotted it got the decimal point wrong?
No, it was paragraphs taken from various different sources, including The health Foundation and The British journal of Nursing.
Climate change is the reason why illegals are invading...straight from the Jack-ass’s mouth…

Yes this is true Syl, thanks for showing this x
The clue is in the word illegal. It’s as though some think if time passes then an illegal act should be forgotten/forgiven.

Legal migrants are invited to work here in the caring ,professions , the NHS and as cleaners by the Government! There is no "illegal act"!
And he squirmed a bit when Andy Burnham was mentioned.
Yes, they come into the country with health probs, especially the very old, get a blue badge, disability benefits and.operation on NHS! So wrong, while we are out on 2 years or.more waiting lists.
