The BBC has been accused of 'shocking' breaches of impartiality by a senior whistleblower.
Michael Prescott, who spent three years as an independent external adviser to the broadcaster's Editorial Guidelines and Standards Committee (EGSC) before leaving the role in June, sent a damning internal dossier to the BBC Board last month after repeated warnings to the standards watchdog were 'dismissed or ignored'.
In the memo, which was obtained by The Telegraph, Prescott details how the corporation 'doctored' a speech by Donald Trump to make it appear like he had encouraged the Capitol Hill riots during an episode of Panorama.
The 'mangled' excerpt 'completely misled' viewers, when it was broadcast in October 2024, by showing the president telling supporters he was going to walk to the Capitol with them to 'fight like hell', when he actually said he would walk with them 'to peacefully and patriotically make your voices heard'.
The report said the programme made the US president 'say' things [he] never actually said' by editing together footage from the start of his speech with something he said nearly an hour later.
When the Panorama 'distortion' was raised with BBC managers, they 'refused to accept there had been a breach of standards'.
This is pretty disgusting by the BBC.  Whether this is Trump or Starmer or anyone, to manipulate in an effort to fool the public is just not on
The BBC has done this to others. I hope Trump sues the arse off them. Such a biased, lying company.
They do this all the time, should be cancelled!
He did encourage the riots by saying he would walk with them i.e he was aligning himself with the rioters. And he even released them from prison without allowing any lawful appeal from the prosecution.
He has zero respect for the law and thinks he can do whatever he likes. Sadly,he cannot. I saw the coverage live on Capitol hill on Sky News and he was certainly encouraging the rioters!Â
I don't trust the BBC the way I used to sadly but Panorama is a flagship show of theirs with many loyal viewers. I doubt BBC would risk this programme with mere hyperbole. If the BBC refused to accept a breach I don't think they believe there was one. He obviously said the words "fight like Hell" just later on. He isn't denying saying this, just insists he said them in a different order to the way depicted on the programme. Good luck with that lawsuit đ
As for Trump suing anyone unless it's the facial tan company that promised natural results he can forget it. Where are the Epstein Files he promised he would deliver?? đ€·Â He is running America into the ground, prices of goods are exorbitant. He has a bit
more to worry about than flipping Panorama..!

Vam imo ,any one opposing Trump and calling out his gaslighting narcissistic ways has to be a good thing. It's a start. It's a bit like Brexit, some people in red state America are waking up but they feel. They can't say anything. They know Trump has is wrecking the economy and is not good for the country but few are speaking out.
If this guy encourages people to admit voting for Trump was a mistake, that ICE 's way of "conducting themselves" leaves people feeling frightened and fearing for friends, GOOD. The ball needs to get rolling somehow. I hope he tells the American electorate how Trump's sky high global tariffs are coming out of THEIR pocket.
Any narrative that opposes and exposes Trump for the grubby felon and compulsive liar he is has to be a step in the right direction. Just my opinion natch.

And let's be honest, NYC has some serous problems and they weren't caused by Trump. Any mayor of NYC has plenty on their plate and getting in a pissing match with Trump shouldn't be on that plate. Might be different if he still lived there but he left that shit hole years ago.
I do find it a bit humorous that people are thinking Mamdani will "fix" NYC.
Who or what broke it?

@ Fluff⊠Opposing and exposing trump is a pretty low bar to cross - he makes it so easy! Thankfully, more and more folks are wising up to the fact that trump promised the world throughout his campaign and then of course, he failed to deliver on those promises. In fact, once elected, he set about doing the complete opposite.
Aside from the 8million Americans who showed up for the No Kings protests, yesterdayâs statewide election results clearly indicate how pissed off folks are with trumpâs administration, and his sycophants and stooges in congress.Â
As for Mamdani, talk is cheap. I hope he doesnât follow the trump playbook and prove himself to be totally ineffectual. Aside from his perma grin, which I find a bit creepy and very annoying, I simply canât imagine how his policy proposals (pretty much âfreeâ everything) can be sustainable long term đ€·đ»ââïž

Someone passes out during an Oval Office presser, and President Poopypants just stands there, with an emotionless blank stare on his face. He seems irritated that attention has been diverted away from him.

To be fair, he did seem a bit concerned at first, bending forwards to see what was happening, I doubt he would have been much use tending to the poor old man.
Was he OK?Â

The âcollegialâ Old Guard who always wants to play nice, caves in again - arenât most of them retiring or not up for re-election anyway?
Still, at least Johnson will now be forced to call the House back into session, after their extended, enforced 40-day vacation during which theyâve been drawing their 6-figure salaries.
