I remember the Aberfan disaster too...it was heartbreaking.
We have spent a lot of time in Wales, and driving through various villages, it's amazing to still see the houses built at the base of huge mountainous slag heaps, they look like another disaster waiting to happen.
You'd think they'd learn eh?

Jack must know better than I do how precarious some of these buildings are. They were possibly built even before Aberfan, but they are still inhabited, and no doubt some schools are in these places too.

It was the anniversary of the Aberfan Disaster yesterday.
57 years since that terrible day.
Looking at that photo, you can just imagine how fast it must have happened.
116 children and 28 adults died.
Male arrogance killed those kids.

There is no way I could sleep with a slate mountain like this in my back yard.
It's as bad as it looks.
Hundreds of years of quarrying slate and shipping it all over the world has resulted in slate waste mountains.
The weather we've had this last week would have me going away for a while.
Who in their right mind would buy a house there?

Edited to diminish the pics, they were distorting the page.

Maddog has the same trouble....it's sorted now.
Dead people receive more flowers than living one's because regret is stronger than gratitude.
Aww, that's really poignant, Vita.
Wow, so right V x
Shorty is wearing her purple poppy as a mark of respect Mags and here's the card I stitched.
Rangers will be paying their respects later today, the other mob will be protesting.
🙄
That's lovely Vita, you are very artistic.
Beautiful V, really is x

Very clever Syl. I'm not gifted with making anything except the bed!
