Hello, I hope you don't mind me moaning here because I am not allowed to moan on Sleeping Dogs.
I was a member of Digital Spy and I came across Sleeping Dogs after a DS Forum Member mentioned it. Sleeping Dogs allowed me to moan about some of the moderation on Digital Spy that would not pass moderation on Digital Spy. This also brought me into contact with a small community of fellow DS moaners. I did this as a guest member - or as a "baghead" as the forum members of Sleeping Dogs often refer to us as.
However, after a while I began to shift from moaning and talking about Digital Spy to responding to some of the political discussion on Sleeping Dogs and through that experience I began encountering some of the forum members on Sleeping Dogs.
However it has now come to a point where the majority of my comments no longer pass moderation. When I criticisie certain politicians or when I criticise the views of certain forum members my posts no longer pass moderation on sleeping dogs. It makes it impossible to engage in debate. So for example I post a comment on a political theme - I get an abusive comment from a forum member in response - and then when I reply to critique their response it doesn't pass moderation. This is all done as a guest (or baghead). Then when I post a comment about the moderation on Sleeping Dogs there is a post from a moderator saying they are having to remove troll posts. There is a lot that goes under "troll posts" as an excuse to prevent certain political themes and certain Sleeping Dogs Forum members views from being contested.
What I would like to say in conclusion is this. There is a certain group of Sleeping Dogs Forum Members that constantly complain about the moderation on Sleeping Dogs. They do not help their case by being often obnoxious and confrontational. All I can say to this group is - as a "baghead" I now understand your complaints. However, my suggestion is to walk away rather than to keep bothering yourself about it.
Just to add I heard about this site from Sleeping Dogs - but for some reason actual mention of the site beyond "CM" is rapidly censored. They won't allow the mentioning of sites they seem to consider as "competition". But I don't see the sites as competing against each other - but just hosting a different small community of people.
Thank you for the time. And thank you for posting this (if you deem it interesting enough).

If I can contribute to a forum as a guest or as anonymous then I will. Then later I may join up if I decide this community and this forum is for me.
I tend not to be committal and like discussions that help with my understanding of the subject being discussed. So I will tend to engage in order to question or critique someones opinion with the hope that this develops the discussion and the thinking. However there is a tendency for others to interpret these questions or these critiques as some sort of insult to them or as representing someone who holds an opposing view. So rather than seeing this as an opportunity to think further and beyond or to explain there is a tendency to respond with abuse and snide remarks or to change the subject.
With Sleeping Dogs I can't really go beyond that because my responses don't pass moderation. And through this I learn that perhaps this forum is not for me. There are definitely some forum members on Sleeping Dogs that seem amenable and open to such discussion but it seems there are too many other "loud" elements that tend to prevent that - and then there is the moderation which stops me from engaging. There appears to be three moderators Stoo, Holly and HobbyFeet and I think all three have different ways and different things they censor. I have noticed certain posts not passing moderation when Stoo and when HobbyFeet appear to be on duty.
So for me I am thinking of only using Sleeping Dogs to sound off complaints regarding Digital Spy. The Political Section of DIgital Spy is hopeless for discussion but general discussions and other sections are generally okay.

Yes he says he's voted Tory all his life but suddenly developed a social conscience and voted FibDem. He voted for the very austerity that he is professing to be so against now. Not so passionate about these dire social problems we have now that he would vote for the very person who vowed to end it and invest money in the country and its people. Hell would freeze over first eh?
