'Captain Tom's War' on ITV last night was such compelling viewing and I hope many on here watched it.
The way he related the horrors and brutality of the Burma Campaign in such a stoic and self-deprecating manner (and still with a twinkle in his eye) was awe-inspiring.
They don't make 'em like that generation anymore that's for certain.
He should be Sir Tom very shortly and the sooner the better.

Yes indeed, Sir Christopher Lee deserved his, so does Sir Tom and very soon it will be Sam Smith for services to publicly blubbing about the Lockdown on the steps of his £12 million house.

I never realised the great man was on Twitter!
I am not on there myself but just been reading his latest messages which really cheered me up.

Good for him, he is more savvy than me. I joined Twitter once and got instantly banned for some reason. I never bothered since.

3 loop fly past. Wonderful. Happy Birthday Colonel Tom.
Happy birthday Colonel Tom x

Happy Birthday to the great man.
£31 million and counting.
A true beacon of light in this dreadful time of darkness.
We all will have to get used to calling him Colonal Tom now as well.
You know he's the epitome of keep calm and carry on. Keep pushing on!
He's a trooper.
Well preserved bodily and mentally.
Brings to mind a quote by US comedian George Burns who apparently lived far longer than he'd expected.
At his 100 yr old birthday party he had everyone in stiches when he quipped:
"dammit if I'd known I'd live this long I'd have taken better care of my body"

I wonder if Sam Smith has finished crying yet?
Beautiful - very well done to that big-hearted little lad.
