Lots of things are pointing to a serious snowy freezing time ahead.
I'm old enough to remember 1963 and here's Cliff Michelmore to tell us all about it.
The bloke at the beginning is soon gone for older footage.
The documentary tells of misery and woe in a twenty foot deep snowdrift wonderland world of cars racing on rivers and the entire country going into total shutdown.
The snow finally goes and we get the massive freeze. Then we get the floods but suddenly it's back to snow and everything is frozen again.
The story unfolds disaster after disaster for the whole of Britain with shortages of everything... gas oil coal electricity water food you name it everything comes to a stop.
Could we be headed for something similar very shortly and how on earth will todays spoilt comfortable everything at the touch of a button generation cope?
Worth a watch if only for some reminiscing for the oldies.

I was living down in Somerset in 1963 when that snow hit. I was about 5. I got dropped off to school on the school bus but when I got there the doors were locked so I panicked and decided to run all the way home. I remember trudging along and the walls of snow and ice were huge to me, they there actually the frozen hedgerows. God only knows how, at that age, I found my way home through those winding, deserted roads. Not a single car passed me and by the time I turned into the driveway of the house I was crying with the pain in my hands and feet. I'll never forget the look in my mum's face as she spotted me weeping on the driveway. She was aghast that I'd got home at all. I'll also never forget the agony of my hands and feet as they thawed out in front of the fire. It was excruciating. I must have had a guardian angel with me that day, because years later my mum told me the walk was a good four miles.

Nothing changes with the Snake Pass...it's still blocked now after the short snowfalls we had a few days ago.
I actually don't remember the winter of 63 being that bad, I was a schoolgirl back then, Salford possibly escaped the worst of it.

Funny how our memories work.
Salford Manchester all around there was hammered by this weather.
But what we remember and what we forget can apparently be influenced by hormones environment etc.
A simple thing like a Beatles record a crush on a boy worrying about getting caught for something a song your mother loved on the radio at the time a picked scab on your heel new shoes that were too tight.... can become the overriding memory of that period.
As unimportant as the things I've mentioned may seem is they can slowly erase completely a major event that you'd think would remain strong and no one has a clue how or why this happens.
Another thing is your brain your mind your experiences were all growing and being formed at rapid rates then and whole sections of memory can be buried possibly destroyed.
Between the ages of six and nine are a near blank for me but either side of that is clear.
When these memories have been buried or appear maybe to be destroyed suddenly something from then will appear as if like magic.
But you were in this white hellhole fun scape for sure.

So it's looking like yes the schwannomas on my spine have spread to my brain.
To the trigeminal nerve on the right hand side of my head and or maybe nearby so surgery.
I'll let everyone know when I'm having an op and say goodbye then just in case I aint coming back.

Gawd I had some fun scrapping with Tyts.
She actually changed my life ever so slightly but the change is still there.
There was one part of the animal vegetarian argument I could just not win and somehow fox hunting was part of it too.
I remain a meat eater but I eat less meat to this day because of her.
Wonder what happened to her .... probably got caught fiddling the social and her husband only worked cash in hand to support the eleven kids they had.

Thanks Mags looks like I've been lucky.
Was on the phone with the guy for forty minutes.
I have about twenty tumours on my spinal cord which I have known about for a while but half a dozen of them to the lowest part of my back have grown from pimple size to little finger nail size and are impinging on nerves and blood vessels but they don't want to touch them as they aren't crippling me often enough to make it worth the risk of paralyzing me below the waist.
The new bit is I have half a dozen pimple size tumours that have spread up from my spinal cord and are on and around the trigeminal nerve on the right hand side of my head.
Destroying them or removing them damages the nerves involved and or the blood vessels meaning I might lose function in one side of my face my lips my eye lid maybe wouldn't be able to chew might lose my hearing in that ear and so on.
So no surgery.
They know the speed these things grow at so the decision is unless my symptoms get any worse between my big toe and the top of my head no surgery just a big scan every two years.
The tumours are schwannomas and are benign but very troublesome.
The ones in my head at the moment are causing me to have the feeling of a spiders web or veil across the right hand side of my face and the feelings of creatures walking across my face when lying down.
The strange thing abut the creatures is most people feel insects my creatures are two legged and don't appear very often and only having two legs means they don't bother me to much... might even be able to befriend them!
The really fucking annoying thing is still after years of people campaigning England NHS still cannot access Wales NHS to see my notes or add to them.
They can only see my English notes which take up two hospitals over the last dozen years.... Gobowen in Shrewsbury and The Walton Centre in Liverpool.
Promised me he's writing a very detailed letter to my GP about what to inform my local hospitals about especially the pain clinic and I'll get a copy too.
