Parents are fuming that Boris Johnson is keeping schools shut until at least March 8 - and are hunkering down for more weeks of arduous home schooling.
The Prime Minister today announced that pupils will not return to classrooms after the February half-term as hoped and must continue learning online.
His statement to MPs this afternoon was met with exasperation from mothers and fathers juggling the needs of their children's remote education with their own work.
Mother Lucy Smith, who has been trying to tie down her pressured job while helping six-year-old Bonnie and four-year-old Raymond with Zoom lessons, was one of those parents dismayed.
The property worker from West Hampstead, north London, told MailOnline: 'It's terrible. I'm expected to go on to Zoom at 11am every day without fail even though sometimes I have meetings.'
She said that her productivity at work had taken a dive as she is often diverted to help her children - and is nagged by teachers if she does not.
Ms Smith especially fears for her daughter in Year 1 who is missing out on face-to-face education at such a formative part of her life.
'It's definitely going to be a generation of dumb kids,' she said.

You would think it was Boris doing it deliberately just to spite her - not because of being in the middle of a fucking global pandemic when we have almost the highest per capita death toll in the world.
When I was at school if I got into trouble I would be in big bother at home as well if they were informed.
Today many of them go in to school to blame the teacher for daring to upset their innocent little darlings.

A good mate of mine works as a teacher. She's having to go into work because the parents are key workers. But she told me that some of them are off work and just want to get rid of the kids. She's fuming about it and keeps threatening to leave. Since she started working there about four years ago, she's had infection after infection from that place. She's always fucking ill.

My daughter managed to persuade the head to take the ten year old girl in with the essential workers kids for three days of the week because at ten she g0es to an all Welsh speaking school so has become fluent in Welsh despite living in a mostly English speaking environment.
She is becoming really good at maths and French too and my daughter isn't so hot on those subjects so little one would suffer educationally and my daughter has two other girls to bring up whilst herself having cancer so gets tired easily.
Having the ten year old home could have helped my daughter with the little ones but the way the ten year old is going by the time she leaves primary school in less than two years she'll be fluent in three languages and top of the grades in maths.
At ten she is an amazingly bright kid but also at the moment a bit of a Tomboy and makeup and fashion lover.
We can see how other kids around the area are suffering as getting them to login and do their coursework is near impossible and a lot of the parents around here are simply not educated enough themselves to do very much more than drive a tractor a combine milk a cow kick a pig it's how it is out here in hillbilly world.
It's an ancient agricultural world here with modern machinery to cut trees down quicker etc.
It really is that simple in many respects.

Everytime they have a Downing Street update the same questions get asked.
I'm sure Boris and Co would love kids to get back in school and he has said a hundred times getting the kids back in class is the main priority.....but till the time is right parents who are not key workers will have to cope.
A close relative is working full time from home and supervising her two kids 6 yrs and 11 years with their online education, plus setting activities for them herself, plus feeding them, plus being a wife when her OH gets home....it's hard. Sometimes she has to go into the office....she has to take both children with her.
No ones life is easy at the moment, but moaning about it or blaming the government is stupid.

It's also laughable the way the teachers union is complaining that it's an invasion of privacy because the teachers homes are in view to all the children they teach.
If a teacher feels 'invaded' place the bloody laptop so a blank wall is in the background....sorted.
