Syl our police are a disgrace. From helping protestors by making sure they're ok, to kneeling. Cressica Dick, surname suits her, is terrible and should stand down. She's turned our cops into lefties who are afraid to arrest someone incas e they're accused of hurting them fgs!
Women have always been unable to walk the streets safely, but we did have bobbies on the beat, cops patrolling etc. Nothing now.
Also many cops have abused their position and raped,.murdered etc. I'm glad this rotten cop got life meaning life! I don't trust cops so I doubt I will in the future.

This is a very rare case, so I don't think being afraid of the police is the right way to go. He would have got that girl whether he was using his police 'powers' or not.

This is the news...
Wayne Couzens exchanged misogynistic, racist and homophobic texts with his police colleagues who are now facing a criminal investigation, it has been claimed.
As everyone knows, I was married to a policeman. Throughout that time I saw all the above from really horrible men who should not have been in the force. So this is nothing new.

I'm sure the majority of cops dont hide behind their uniforms to attack women, a minority do, and as the figures show, the majority of them are not charged.
In Manchester, literally thousands of male abusers have been reported but not even been investigated. The police may not have been the abusers here, but neither are they the protectors.
So in answer to my own question....at this time I dont think women can trust the policeforce in the UK.

Most cops (male and female) are very decent people.
Dealing day in day out with the scum of the earth must take a toll though.
But in that job, much like the priests etc - is the perfect opportunity for human filth to prey on the vulnerable and flourish in plain sight.
Just my opinion.

Like Mags said, police dont patrol the streets anymore.
If they did that would be one way to encourage women to trust them.
There is no point in police spokespeople and politicians telling women they should have the right to walk the streets in safety....then doing sod all to enable that they can.

Exactly Syl. Seeing the same bobbies on beat gave a sense of security. Cops throughout ages have abused their service. In the 70s they beat men up, not just hardened crims either. Some still doing it, bullying. Yet when needed to patrol, like those idiot protestors, they are weak. I will never trust them.

The bitch should be deported as soon as possible for helping this rapist scumbag - an ex-copper.
It won't make the headlines because Hull is a forgotten backwater as far as the London-centric press are concerned.

Exactly JD. Syl has a list of places that were ignored by the police because they were muslims. We need to get rid of Cressida Dickhead get someone in who knows what they're doing and not a wet blanket like her.

The latest 'advice' about how women should act if they are stopped by a plain clothes copper is bordering on the farcical.
Run away, flag down a bus, bloody hell...this is going from bad to worse.

Suppose there's no bus. Do we flag down a driver. We could then be jumping from the frying pan into the fire!

You are lucky if a bus stops at the bloody bus stop round here, never mind if someone flags it randomly.

Same here, it will just sail on by. Bloody idiotic thing to tell women. We've never been safe on the streets and until the law and policing changes, we never will.

I notice in the current conversation in the media (especially the BBC) that Islam and Sharia Law practiced here is never referred to for it's blatant and inherent misogyny.
Black gang culture as well that treats vulnerable young women as pieces of meat to be used and abandoned once destroyed forever.
We all know why.

I think the current focus is because the murderer was a serving police officer, that has outraged people more than the norm.
Women being murdered by men isn't unusual in the UK, the average is 2 a week.
When a cop preys on a young girl like this, and the manner in which he kidnapped, raped, murdered, Tthen set alight her body to cover his tracks, and all the time performing his duties as a 'respected' copper, that's what is sickening.

Yeah I know Syl but in this climate I think the authorities should use the opportunity to reduce violence. sexual abuse on women and misogyny in all groups instead of turning a blind due to being terrified of being accused of 'Islamophobia' or 'Racism'.
This is the 21st century and it has to stop.

Don't you know the difference between a joke and reality?
Probably not.
But your faux outrage is as transparent as a pane of glass.
Sarah Everards rapist and murderer Wayne Couzens has been imprisoned for life, no chance of parole or release...ever.
That's one sexual predator who hid behind his police uniform less on the streets.
However...
"More than 750 Met officers and staff have faced sexual misconduct allegations in 11 years - reports
Figures show that 771 officers and staff in the Met Police have faced allegations of sexual misconduct since 2010, the I is reporting.
Just 83 of them were sacked, according to the newspaper.
Of the 771, 88% of them were reportedly serving officers."
