I am surprised this does not happen more often, we seem to let in anyone at all into the country without checking their backgrounds to see if they pose a threat.

The victim was 69, the attacker 25, I doubt arming the MP's would work..

Allowing politicians the right to a handgun isn't happening either though.
And while it's unfortunate that it's necessary, it seems that something similar to pre flight screening for a flight may be necessary to see MPs.
Those 40 bazillion cameras are great at catching people, but they don't prevent this stuff if people don't care if they are caught.
