Okay so I was at the shop today and when I was in it, I used their cash machine and then got a few things I was needing.
My hands were full and I needed a free hand to open the freezer door and put my purse in my pocket.
When I was getting my item, I was aware of three teenage boys around me and I put my hand to my pocket and noticed my purse gone.
I grabbed one by the throat and said "One of you have taken my purse"
They had and they dropped it and I got it back.
Was I foolish to have taken the aggressive approach or should I have thought "Three onto one Vicks, it's too risky?"
What would you have done?

You've put your hands round a childs neck, you should hope he hasn't told his parents. It doesn't matter what they did, you're and adult. The shop will have CCTV and if you get reported they will demand that footage.

I would've done the same as you in temper, but it on hindsight it was rash as they could've had a knife. So glad you got your purse back, and glad you were unharmed x

On instinct, I would have tackled them. If I thought about it more, I possibly wouldn't.

It was your instinct kicking in but you were lucky they weren't carrying a knife. At least you got your purse back and you're safe, it might make the cowards think again about robbing a woman, mind. Their faces must have been a real picture after you did that.

I do carry messenger bag when I ride and if you try to steal it, I'll use all force necessary to retrieve it.

Good I hope it is reported because the little darling will hopefully have been caught on the CCTV putting his hand in my pocket.

There would have been no need.
If you wait for the cops to sort out someone stealing your stuff, there won't be anything to sort out.
The shitheads and your stuff will be a mile down the road using your credit cards to buying big macs for all of their friends.
