Great timing, members of my family have just been diagnosed with Covid....just in time for Christmas.
So far it's not in my house yet, but it looks like for many, Christmas plans will have to be rearranged.
Latest news about omicron, everyone who has it may infect between 3 to 5 others.

Well both adults feel pretty rotten right now, one of the kids has just tested positive today, the youngest is so far negative.
The thing is, if she catches it off them, and I think it's pretty inevitable, she will still be quarantining on Christmas and boxing day.
So far there are six of us that are still OK, and I am doing Christmas day.....so far.

I'm blaming the Germans.
He was there about a month ago.

Aww…that must be disappointing, Syl. If it’s Omicron, they’ll hopefully go through a much less severe illness. Fingers crossed!
My plans are very simple this year. Already been to a couple of pre-Christmas lunches in the last week - and that’s about it for me. I’ve not been feeling great, so I’m planning to just quietly sit this one out.

Thanks Vam, yes it is disappointing, but so far my Christmas day is still on for six, including both my grandsons, which (like you say, fingers crossed) will still go ahead.
I think a lot of people are planning a quiet Christmas this year...hopefully you will feel better soon, and are able to enjoy the festive period.

Grandson No2 tested positive this morning, he is waiting for the pcr test to come back now, but he is showing all signs of Covid.
Older grandson is home for Christmas, he came round yesterday with his mum and stepdad....they are all hoping they will be clear, but either way they will be quarantining now.
Meal out tonight (which I was really looking forwards to) is now cancelled.
Christmas day, where they were coming here, boxing day at theirs...all cancelled.
Sons family caught Covid a few days ago, not all together, so they are still in quarantine, but thankfully they seem to be getting over the worst of it.
We had all avoided it for almost 2 years....now, just before Christmas, everyone is getting it.
They are not kidding when they say omicron is very infectious.

I bet you do! I’m sorry it’s all gone pear-shaped for you & your family. But the important thing is that everyone recovers safely & quickly.
Maybe you could do something in January? A post-Xmas blues-buster kinda thing?
On a brighter note, Pfizer’s Covid treatment pill has just been approved. A simple 5-day anti-viral course of tablets, to be taken within 3 days of experiencing symptoms, or the day immediately after testing positive. Apparently, it reduces the risk of severe illness/hospitalisation by almost 90%. I’ll take those odds!
