A new 4 part drama started last nigh on BBC1...starring the glorious Sean Bean and the equally fabulous Nicola Walker.
Bit of a disappointment...so far anyway.
I think if my marriage was so stilted and frustratingly closed up...I would have left years ago.

There was a lot of forced smiling and pent up silences instead of forthright speaking, no doubt some people do act like that in a marriage, it wouldn't do for me though.
I might see how ep 2 goes.

I don't mind a good drama but I can't be doing with angst.

You wouldn't like this then...it was riddled with angst.
The same writer/director wrote the series 'Mum'...I loved that, it was gentle and quite funny.

I would guess the woke narrative has filtered into all BBC and ITV and C4 dramas compared to say forty years ago. Even the educational curricula has become woke. It hasn't made people more peaceful - it has made people more angry and divided.

I wasn't sure, but like you Syl I will watch the next episode to see if it livens up. I did think it's like a lot of marriages though. Nicola Walker and Sean Bean are great actors, so I'm going to give it the benefit of the doubt.

What did you think?
The acting is brilliant, but apart from the simmering resentment that sometimes bubbles up between these two, nothing much has happened yet.
Alternatively, a new series has also started on BBC2, 'Red Rose', far more eventful....I enjoyed this one.

Oh never saw that one. The pauses in marriage was like, c'mon, but then many marriages are like that, they don't talk. As isaid Syl, I will try one more, see how it goes.

Over the weekend, we streamed Marriage. Oh dear, we lost the will to live! So slooooow!
Carried on to the last episode just to have things explained. What a let down, apart from a couple things, nothing really was explained, and things were dragged out til the end. Its truly rubbish. Long silent pauses, both wimps, and story line was crap!
I'm afraid Nicola and Sean haven't done themselves any credit in this silly story. Won't watch them in anything else for a while, the acting was bad, by them all.
To the side to the side, to the middle, to the side. What's that all about? 😵

The first time that happened I couldn't find the remote to turn it down...it was deafening.
It's boring like you say Mags...I watched ep3 last night, OH walked out after the first 10 minutes to do something more interesting...anything would have done.
I wont bother with Ep4....and like you I am surprised Sean and Nicola agreed to appear in such rubbish.

Yes hub was so bored, he read his paper again. I think this will damage Sean and Nicola's acting reputation for a while now.

They are both brilliant actors, so I doubt their reputations will be hurt.
I wonder if they will look back and wonder why they thought it was a good idea to star in such dross...neither of them need the money surely.
