Are we heading for 1984 authoritarianism in the United States (leader of the free world) or is this an acceptable and necessary move?

There are too many Americans with a cultish loyalty to a man vs a position, policy or even party.
It's definitely not healthy and is going to cause some serious problems if that man is arrested.
Fortunately for the Republicans, Biden is a bumbling, incompetent fool that keeps the republican party a viable option while a large chunk of them worship an orange lunatic.
Great time to be alive in the land of the "free". 🤪

Is he an Orange Lunatic or is it just an exaggerated media created perception? As soon as the Orange Man announced his candidancy in 2015 there has been nothing but hysterical reporting and claims. However, with the Biden Administration the world seems to be heading towards real peril with the USA visibly supporting conflicts with Russia and China rather than diplomatic solutions. Military expenditure appears to have gone through the roof. If you have read George Orwells 1984 then you know how narratives are pushed to create external (internal) enemies that justify rising state powers and actions.

He's an orange lunatic. Biden is an old fool with dementia.
Him taking all of those records to Mara Lago is just the icing on the cake. What in the hell has the purpose of that?

Don't all Presidents take copies of records with them?

No. Not classified records.
Those belong to us. They aren't his personal records.
This is bizarre as shit.

When Donald Trump announced his candidancy to run for President in 2015 the reaction from supposedly neutral news media sources was so extreme it was impossible not to overlook. When he won the Presidency there were some lecturers at English Universities that cancelled their lectures so that they and their students could mourn. Then during his Presidency it was one apparent ludicrous story after another. Hence it is VERY DIFFICULT to work out what is going on especially when what I once considered to be reliable news sources have shown themselves to be unreliable - the situation of the shephard boy who cried wolf.
Would you say you are an INDEPENDENT? The American electorate seems to be divided into Democrat voters, Republican voters and independents. Do you have to register yourself as a Democrat voter in order to vote in the primaries or can anyone vote in a democrat or Republican primary?

We don't register in Texas.
I vote libertarian.
Trump got all sort of extra attention. But he seeks it out.
That's his biggest problem. It's always about him.

Somebody needs to update their Wikipedia page. I had never heard of them before as they get zero attention in the British media. They seem to be a marginal party with little to no influence. I don't know what their future prospects are.
The Libertarian Party want reduced state interference and greater individual rights. In recent decades there has been a change in the Federal Administration: from George Bush (2001 to 2009), to Barrack Obama (2009 to 2017), to the Orange Lunatic (2017 to 2021), to Joe Biden (2021 to date). Has your personal situation, condition, living standards been noticeably affected by ANY of these changes - or have you largely been unaffected by these changes?

Government is always present and has a huge impact on my life.
The difference between how the two major parties govern, isn't as great as they make it out to be though
Let's take our level of national debt. It's about 30 trillion now. Both major parties add to that number, they just spend money on slightly different shit..

They say the biggest impact on peoples lives is associated with their work, personal relationships, and whether or not they own their own home. Government in general is not noticeable unless they are giving freebies or hiking up taxes significantly or conscripting people for war.

Trump is a psychopath and his followers are deluded and dangerous fools.
Biden is not exactly Lincoln but he is far better than the orange pervert.

And the vast majority of government interference in daily living comes from local government.
But the really big impacts do come from the top.

you're very quiet on Biden's Presidency MD.
Do you think he's good for America, what about his continuous walking back his statements the next day. Claiming he never said it even though it's on camera?
What about his inaction on the southern border and the drugs coming across in record numbers.
Harris is hardly seen or heard (not a bad thing)
their poll numbers are in the tank. But we have idiots like phil(jd)
stating he's great because he's not trump. Obviously no clue as to what is really going on in the states.
They're even trying to push Clinton into another run because they have no one else to run against DeSantis.
Maybe we should start a US political thread in the whine. If nothing else it will have cj chewing at the bit

Its not really much of a topic on this forum. Biden has dementia, poor policies and isn't very popular.
I'm pretty exasperated with the whole political shit show we have.
From shit candidates to the useful idiots that support them.

One thing about posters on this forum is that they don't think they are experts on the US.
There isn't really anyone like Stoo, CJ or Grafenwhiner on here saying stupid shit on a daily basis that need corrections.
