According to a programme I caught on TV last night, taste testing various items, including Champagne, Aldi came off better....and a lot cheaper.
I do go to Aldi sometimes...I have never been to Harrods, though it does look magical at this time of year.

I watched that. I've been to Harrods several times as I used to live nearby and I was born in London. It is magnificent and foodhall is amazing. Way back I got into the lift with that guy from All Creatures Great and Small - Robert Hardy? I remember he had on this green tweedy suit with matching waistcoat and looked very stern. The last time I was in there a few years back, it was full of rich Arabs in the jewellery section. Some of the diamond watches were the most expensive things I've ever seen.

I went to Trader Joe's tonight which is owned by Aldi. We also have Aldi's which are quite small with not much selection. Trader Joe's is slightly bigger and geared more towards small, health conscious families.
You see a lot of very fit young ladies working and shopping there. 😉
They have a pretty good wine and beer selection too..

Sainsburies fared well too....I quite like shopping there, hardly go to M&S now, they annoyed me back when we were all in lockdown, they refused to deliver food, even though every other big food supplying supermarket delivered.
Harrods hampers look very nice, but when an average one costs more than the Harrods security guys monthly wage...maybe not.

We get this Aldi Champagne every Christmas...it's nice, and fared better than Harrods

I never drink that stuff unless someone gives me a glass in NYE.
But I was reading about calories and such for drinks the other day. Champagne is pretty low in calories. I usually only drink Cabernet if I'm having a wine of some sort. Pinot Noir sometimes with fish..

I can't drink red...it's too heavy for me.
I like a nice Chablis or Chardonnay, buttery, dry...and cold.

champagne has a terrible effect on me. I'm likely to leap onto tables and throw my legs around. It makes me really giddy.

I doubt many women have reached a certain age and not thought it a good idea to get up on the table to have a dance a time or two.
I was in a club once, once girl did just that, and proceeded to take every item of clothing off...she was star cabaret that night.
Amazingly it took the bouncers about 15 minutes before they decided to remove her.

Some have little of both.
The trifle went first. The bought Key lime pie is still in the fridge, unopened.

We did an Aldi shop before Christmas.
The Champagne, Christmas pudding (though I did add lots of brandy) and the iced Christmas cake were lovely....the mince pies were horrible.
Cheap or posh?
