If you can't handle 25 minutes try it in smaller bites it's interesting.

David Cameron has now been made home secretary.
A very powerful position but he's not even in government so he was made a lord to get around that little problem.
Unelected inserted prime minister.
Unelected inserted home secretary.

They seem to think they are a law unto themselves now. It's up to the people to vote them out.

Sometimes I'm not sure democracy is such a good idea.
Think how dumb the average voter is. Then remember half of them are dumber than that.
That's how we democratically chose Trump and Biden as two of our 4 candidates on the ballot, and wound up with 95% of the voters choosing one or the other in the general election.
Democracy forces me to be subject to these idiots.
That being said, I still don't have a better option, except to limit the amount of influence these democratically elected idiots have in my life.

Our saviours have arrived... not. All this will do is split the votes meaning we're ever more likely to get another coalition government. I just hope the Tories are no part of it. New political party to try and ‘transform’ democracy – amid Labour disarray on Gaza

The same applies to jurors.
Some of the idiots who I know have served on a jury, cant decide what to wear in the morning.

Imagining people that vote for someone you would not choose as idiots, dumb or worse reduces them to "sub-human" in the imagination - incapable of rational thought et cetera. That is the first step to the acceptance of very nasty things being done to these people.
As an impartial observer from Britain all I noted was the absolute hysterical reporting by mainstream media when Donald Trump announced himself as candidate for the 2016 Presidential election. Then I saw in America via youtube American teachers getting their children to scream and run when someone said Donald Trump was in the building. When Donald Trump won I read opinion pieces by Academics in SOAS University of London and elsewhere saying how they couldn't teach their university students because of the absolute horror of Donald Trump being elected. And it went on and on and has gone on even in this Biden Administration.
Give the people unbiased unemotive fact based reporting focusing on policies rather than hearsay and decontextualized private chatter.

We have plenty of empirical data demonstrating how poorly informed the typical person is.
That doesn't make them sub human, but it does make them poor decision makers in the democracy process..
But as I said, there is no better idea out there. Leaders must be accountable to the whims of those who are being led.

Churchill again... The best argument against democracy is a five-minute conversation with the average voter.

Would listening to CNN make the typical American well informed? What should the typical American listen to and read to make them well informed?

They have to value being informed on the topic.
How do they know all about who Taylor Swift is dating, yet can't name either of their senators?
I think it's more than watching the news.
I don't watch CNN, but I'm very well informed.
I don't watch any cable news, to be honest, but I read all sorts of sources..

"A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the majority discovers it can vote itself largess out of the public treasury. After that, the majority always votes for the candidate promising the most benefits with the result the democracy collapses because of the loose fiscal policy ensuing, always to be followed by a dictatorship, then a monarchy."
