Can you imagine the outrage if it was an 80 year old woman?

I think it's all wrong. He won't live to see his baby growup.

And his daughter will grow up without a dad...or at best, a dad old enough to be a great grandad.
I think it's incredibly selfish.

He’s brought her into a world of money and privilege. Think about that, Syl!!

That doesn't quite make up for losing your dad at an early age. It's my bet most people who have would trade all the money in the world for them to return.

True, but does that make up for losing a parent in the early years of life?
And you think about this....would you think the same if the mother was 80?

Apart from death, think about quality of life.
I was a youngish nan, in my 40's...fit and healthy. But....I definately did not have the stamina I had in my 20's when my son was born. De Nero is 80, he won't have anywhere near the stamina or health he had when was 40, 50, even 60....which would be pushing it to still be breeding.
Mother nature got it right with women...she seems to have not had the same foresight when it comes to men.

It would be impossible for the mother to be 80 though, so it’s not a comparison.

Not impossible at all, a woman has already given birth at 73 years old.
And you skirted round the question.

No, it should be illegal to enable an elderly woman to get pregnant.
It should be discouraged to enable an 80 year old man to impregnate too....just say NO.

You can’t legislate against something like this.

The question was 'Would you think it OK if a woman had a child at 80'?

No. As it could bring physical harm to her or baby. it’s not a sexist statement, it is simply about biology.

Do you think an 80 year olds semen is as healthy as a much younger mans? It is't.
"A recent study of more than 40.5 million births in the United States revealed potentially harmful effects of advanced paternal age on a baby’s risk of prematurity, low birth weight, low Apgar score and risk of seizures, as well as the mother’s chances of developing gestational diabetes."

Good point - I didn’t know that.

That's it. Nature didn't make women infertile after menopause or man's sperm count less as he ages for no reason.

I have heard of the male menopause and I know that men produce less testosterone as they age - giving rise to a lower metabolism, middle age spread, lower fertility, lower strength. Some men take testosterone replacement therapy or something - the boxer Mike Tyson took testosterone when he returned to the boxing ring in his late forties / early fifties. This is not the elevated levels that athletes get banned for but replacement to "top up" what has been lost due to age.
The human body has in-built switches / processes that give rise to the aging process.
Is it fair on the children?
