If I carry ten bags of corn from A to B for a quid a bag and haul ten bags I go home with ten quid.
If Magica hauls ten bags of corn for fifty p a bag she has to stay longer to haul more bags to go home with ten quid.
What is the argument to make this ok?

It's not okay, you shouldn't be carrying bags of corn with your bad back.

Having read a bit more it's the shop staff mostly women who want equal pay with the warehouse staff mostly men.
But they're two completely different jobs!
Do the female warehouse workers get the same pay as the men?
That would make sense but fighting to be paid the same as men in another job doesn't make sense.

Thats how most of these cases are now. The same jobs have the same pay. It's just that men and women tend to drift towards different jobs, which have different levels of pay.
Like it or not, women tend to be more involved in child rearing and need jobs that work around that. Even childless women are still more likely to get a job in retail than plumbing.

Didn't a female BBC presenter win her case a couple of years ago to get equal pay? She was doing the same job as the men, but paid less, who would have thought the BBC would be cheating women in this day and age??

Hollywood often pays female actors less..
But that's sorta based on popularity not gender.
Much like female athletes. You can do the same job, but if people won't pay to watch you, you're worth less economically..

At least the women in Hollywood don't still have to kip with grotesque film producers before they get the job that pays them less than their male co-stars.
Or do they?

I'd like to think it's a rare occurrence now..

They did....hopefully not so much now, though I bet it still happens.
Actors and actresses are paid on their money generating popularity like you say, the BBC should pay ethe sexes qually, but they dont.
