"Shocking CCTV footage has shown a carer 'violently degrading' a frail elderly man with dementia - as she hurled him around 'like a rag doll' just days before he died.
Cruel Bilikesu Olagunju, 42, who had been in the job just six days, was caught on camera 'manhandling' John Attard, 88, at his home in Bexley, Kent, a court heard.
Footage captured during the 45-minute visit shows the ordeal from which the great-grandfather never recovered, according to his family.
Olagunju, who at the time was employed by Unique Personnel UK, stripped Mr Attard, threatened to beat him up and even dragged him across his living room floor.
She is also said to have ignored the elderly man as he repeatedly told her she was 'hurting' him.
At one point, Olagunju tells him: 'Maybe I will beat you up. I will flog you. I will take you to the GP to get injections. I will call the police on you."
"Olagunju pleaded guilty to one count of ill-treating or willfully neglecting an individual while acting as a care worker.
She has now been given a six-week prison sentence, suspended for 18 months, while also being ordered to carry out 50 hours' unpaid work, at Woolwich Crown Court in south-east London."

A lot of these people from Africa and other third world countries are a combination of ignorant, uneducated, dumb, and cruel. There are plenty that aren't but lots who are. Carers should be scrupulously vetted. As for her defence council claiming she hadn't received enough training.... You can't teach someone compassion.

Nope. I won’t be clicking on that link.
Child/the elderly/animal abuse is always something I actively try to avoid looking too closely at.
It’s distressing enough just to read about it.

Sadly and all too often, life is cheap in that part of the world.

It breaks my heart when the old and vulnerable are treated so cruelly by ignorant uncaring bastards who have not an ounce of care in their bodies.
She is a bully who only sees a weak old man. That man was once a vibrant young person, possibly fighting for his country, carrying out good work, being a loving family man...and inside, he is still all that.
I don't know how some of these people get jobs. A friend of mine has just started work in a care home, she has had to fill in countless forms and wait for a CRB check to come through.

Working as a care worker myself many moons ago sadly colour is not necessarily an issue when it comes to neglecting or abusing patients. I worked with all white brits born and bred who forgot to fetch a gentleman in a wheelchair from the toilet so he was stuck there all day, were rough when moving patients, smoked in the patients bedrooms, and ignored patients asking for the toilet. This was the nursing section and most sadly had dementia and mobility issues. I left many shifts distressed. One day a patient asked to go to bed earlier and so I told the co worker assigned to this lady. The co worker ignored me and actually left the lady until last because she didn't like anyone "telling her what to do. " I have told my Mum she is never going into a home.

Hi
Just wondering how you square that racist statement with your signature of “peace“ and propensity for pictures of native Americans?
Thanks

Having read the story in full this woman is evil and should of been charged with manslaughter. Her actions traumatised this poor man,he was found unresponsive and bleeding after the encounter and passed days after. The bizarre disgraceful threats of flogging him and calling the police...this is not normal behaviour and far more serious than 'standard ' neglect although I hesitate to use such an odious term. This woman is not typical of carers from anywhere in the world.

He added: 'On the CCTV, you can see a woman who was not trained properly to deal with the situation she was faced with.'
FGS…you have to be told not to brutalise another human being in your, so called, “care”?
I pictured my dad in those images and it choked me. No way would I be accepting of the court’s “punishment”, I’d like to think I’d appeal that sentencing due to the leniency.
The only saving grace is that her face and name is now out there. Karma.

I am sure the vast majority of carers are caring. It's the evil ones who make the news. There was one recently who was rifling through the ladies handbag, which was under the table. All the time she was doing so, she was having a conversation with the lady she was supposed to be caring for.
But to physically hurt the one you are caring for, so much so that in this case, the man didn't regain consciousness, I agree, this woman is responsible for the man's death.
How the judge could say there was no malicious intent to her actions, is unbelievable ... and for her barrister to say she had no previous convictions, when she has only just arrived in the UK from abroad, is not necessarily accurate either.

Many carers in care homes are black, that's a fact, whether they get their jobs without thorough checks, I would bet that's down to the actual care home policy of hiring, regarding how closely they look into a persons past. My friends application went through stages, it took around 3 months for her to pass all the interviews and checks.
By law, a DBS check (below) must be carried out. But obviously, if someone is newly arrived from abroad, not all past records will be available here.
What Information is Needed for an Enhanced DBS Check?
The fastest way of carrying out an Enhanced DBS Check for carers is to ensure that all the correct information is obtained as soon as possible. Applicants for a care position must supply the following for a check to be carried out.
To prove a person’s identity, businesses need a valid passport or driving license. Applicants will also need to provide proof of address by supplying a utility bill, bank statement, Self-Assessment demand or driving license if it wasn’t used for photographic ID.
