Anyone that was / is a British boxing fan will be shocked by this news. One of the greats of British boxing only outdone by two of the modern legends of the sport. He was still active in the sport as a trainer.

I vaguely remember the name. I'm not really a fan of combat sports (I'm not opposed to them, I just don't really follow them)..
Sounds like a mixture of drugs, mental health issues and a bazillion blows to the head put him in one of those dark places he couldn't escape from..

He opened a gym locally, helped young kids to get off the street and take up fitness, he also did a lot to make people aware of mental illness.
Mohamad Ali opened Rickys gym back in 2009.

As with many boxers they tend to have mood swings. I don't know if Ricky Hatton was bipolar but he did suffer from depression during and following his career. Much of that is due to injuries, being beaten during his career and working out what to do post career.
However he had found a life after boxing and was doing something positive as indicated by Syls above post. He was well known in Manchester and a regular visitor to Man City Football ground. My first thoughts were that maybe it was another vaccine injury. At the moment I would not think it was purposely self-afflicted. There was a lot happening in boxing of which he would be interested in (Canelo vs Crawford) and would have been asked to comment on and he would have been expected at the local derby today (city vs united).

Been troubled with mental issues for a very long time though, so not a complete surprise, but still shocking all the same.
RIP

Never been attracted to blondish haired blokes but God I found him handsome in his younger days.
RIP.

Blonde haired men were not attractive to me either. But I defy anyone to watch a young Robert Redford in a film called 'This property is condemned', and not see that he was absolute perfection.
He also seemed like a real gentleman.

My dad was, lets say... no gentleman when it came to family.
Back on track...Robert Redford had four children. Sadly, his two sons died, one as a baby and one of cancer.

(apologies, Syl…and I’m sorry to see that)
I wanted to clarify that the picture I posted was of Robert Redford’s father holding his baby son, Robert. That baby boy grew up to uncannily resemble his Dad!
I tried clarifying, but messed up the posts - then I gave up! 😂

All that healthy eating keep fit and weight lifting was a waste then,.
Was my previous post considered unsuitable or did it go missing?
Unsuitable.
