I don't expect many replies to this as negative right wing feedback isn't generally posted but I will give it a go.
British MP Sarah Pochin has declared she is driven mad by seeing people of colour in adverts .She later apologised for her comments but I doubt she was sincere, merely concerned about losing her job. 51% of people in adverts are POC and the rest are white. Why is she even concerned??
I think it is of course racist to declare she doesn't want to see black people on television. But what bothers me more is how she wouldn't have been permitted to say this a decade ago and how much the media have allowed such abhorrent views to become normal discourse. Imagine how her comments make POC feel. The narrative is that Reform and their voters are not racist ,they are just concerned about immigrants. So why is Pochin talking about being drove mad about BlackBritishpeople??
Do you think her views are racist or realism? Is it all a fuss about nothing? Or do you feel her comments prove Reform MP's are racist as this rhetoric has nothing to do with immigration?
Speaking to TalkTV on Saturday, Pochin stated that it “drove her mad” seeing a high proportion of minorities featured in television adverts, instead of “white families”.
The representative for Runcorn went on to state that the average white person ‘does not feature’ in TV ads, before going on to blame the ‘wokerati’ for the perceived shift in demographics. However, the ramblings have left her in hot water.
Her apology was -
"My comments on a Talk TV phone-in earlier today were phrased poorly and I unreservedly apologise for any offence caused, which was not my intention.Representation in advertising should reflect the diversity of modern Britain.“
I think it's silly to consider different views on race as racism.
Wondering why some races are over represented in adverts isn't racism, it's asking why does race seem to be so important in adverts.

She may be racist, I don't know anything about her.
Black and Asian people do seem to feature a lot more than whites in many TV ads, also, if the BBC is doing an outside broadcast, particularly at a school or college, they more often than not interview none English born kids. It doesn't bother me, but it is a fact.
Perhaps it's reverse racism on behalf of the media.

I did consider that. The two aren't mutually exclusive but Reform.voters go mad if you suggest the title can be accurate in.both respects.I personally think most of Reform MP's are racist because they claimed they were only concerned with illegal immigrants which is totally legitimate.
Yet they want to get rid of legal migrants who work and have been living here for decades if they get elected. And now they object to British POC on television. They are slowly moving the political (and moral) goalposts to test the waters.
It's such a weird thing to care about, seeing black people in adverts. The country is steeped in poverty due to years of Tory austerity (except the billionaires are better off financially. How is this possible?)and I feel Reform intend to lead people to their own economic demise by using their prejudices.

Syl, I honestly don't see this. After this became a news story and I saw the Reform MP citing her disgust I sat down.and prepared to watch a few adverts.
It was highly tedious but a washing machine product had a blonde beauty , a crisps adverts featured white teenagers and a Kiko make up advert with a white model. The last advert for sofa's showed two black couples and one white couple.
But I recognise that might happen to.be the adverts I was shown at the time. If I had seen mostly POC I can honestly say I wouldn't have cared less.
I have noted the BIB to be true but I think that's a positive thing in children 's educational programmes as children don't see colour. The hatred and loathing is learned. So I do live in hope that normalizing all colours and creeds will halt this terrifying trend in the younger generation before the Murdoch media attempts to manipulate them.
Ten years ago The Sun called out Nigel Farage for being racist..that would never happen now..Racist discourse has become so much more acceptable in the last ten years.

I notice it a lot more when listening to local radio and the reporter is interviewing school and college kids. I think TV ads vary a lot depending which part of the country you live and the time of day you are viewing.
Fluffy, I don't see just because some people notice this, it makes them in any way racist...nor racist to say so.
If you say you don't want to see black people on TV or listen to foreign people on the radio...of course that's racist.
Do I think it's racist to go into a school/college and speak to 90% Asian or black kids and 10% white kids, I think maybe the BBC has an agenda, to bend over backwards to not be accused of racism, and I also think it's unfair to the white English kids.

A few years ago, practically every Xmas ad from the big companies featured a black mum or dad married to a white mum or dad, with a mixed race kid.
I'm not sure what the percentage of mixed race families are in the UK, but anyone watching the ads might think it was 100%.

Yep. I agree with that. And of course, daft media choices like that exacerbates the problem and only serves to make folks feel even more resentful.
I remember the story of that little schoolgirl who was not allowed to participate in her school’s ‘culture’ dress-up day, and was sent home for wearing her Union Jack dress.

However, it does get my back up when major white historical figures are portrayed by black actors as with the debacle of the Anne Boleyn remake. The thing tanked. it's not only idiotic it's fucking insulting to our culture.
