Lamb shanks, boiled potatoes, white cabbage (boiled for 5 minutes, just add pepper and butter)

A tin of salmon, sliced onion, and seeded bread and butter.
I welcomed something plain and simple after all the rich food.

I cooked a Chinese banquet last night for friends. Chicken with cashews, sweet and sour prawns, dim sum, egg fried rice, pak choy in oyster sauce. Then cocktails to follow.

A right mish mash tonight as we've  been out visiting family all day.   Thai chicken soup, hot smoked salmon and stollen.

My grandmother made stollen every Christmas.

I probably haven't had any for 30 years now..

OH is having a fry up, not for me, smoked salmon and scrambled egg, bread and butter and that's my lot.

I have just had a huge slice of peperoni pizza in the Asda cafe and will be full up till about 9pm.

I had some stollen tonight, it was very dry.

Maddog, That's usually the dressing I put on salad, but I prefer the balsamic glaze to the vinegar.

/\ Looks tasty, which drizzle do you make?

For tea tonight...grandsons are one fiancé are coming round. I am making my one and only Christmas dinner this year, we are out for most of the festive meals....so I seem to be having it easy at long last. happy

I never buy turkey, it's too dry, so I will roast chicken breasts, pigs in blankets, stuffing, sprouts, carrots, roast sweet potatoes and gravy and apple sauce.
chocolate log or mince pies and cream to follow.

This was at a place down the street. I generally just put olive oil and basalmic vinegar on salads..

Speaking of Chinese buffets.........🙄

🫣 Holy crap! Did someone grab the last Wontons?

I just grin when I watch these large folks belly up to the all you can eat Chinese buffet while the Asian employees give that cold blank stare..

I still vividly remember a time when a woman filled two plates, then sent her kid up the buffet to get a plate of about 5 dinner rolls..

I'll bet she parked in the handicap spot too.

Maybe this will work better?

That looks like the typical lunch buffet at every med hotel we have stayed in ... very tasty.

A carvery here is a typical roast din, usually a server will slice the meats of choice and serve  pigs in blankets, then pick your own yorkshire pudding, pot, veg, gravy, etc.

Gotcha we have something like that where there's a dude in a tall hat slicing turkey, ham or prime rib, but you don't see those as often as we used too..

I have the veggie option,.lots of fresh veg and mashed and roasted potatoes.

Ooh lovely. It's a very British thing to go out for a carvery lunch or dinner, pretty reasonable prices too in most places.

Isn't that just basically a buffet?

It's like it,   except it's hot food, not picks.

 Out buffets are hot food..

Most of our Chinese places are buffets.

Syl's husband would be heaven..😉

 He would rather starve.bored
