I work for a private organisation that gathers information as requested by a government body. The number of misfits I have to interview that seriously believe that posting on forums is a full-time job. The other day and this is what has prompted me to post this thread, I interviewed what I can only describe as a zero hope. He had the obiglatory dog. He claimed to be an ex-alcoholic and junkie. He claimed he wanted to work but his "circumstances" would not allow this. Worryingly, he had convinced himself that he was working full time for the benefits he was being handed out by managing a blog and called himself a 'forum moderator.'
If I'd met someone like that a few years ago I would have thought this waste of flesh was being sarcastic. However, having looked at some of the major and minor forums I could see that this useless, mixed up, confused, deluded, two-faced Jackanoary creature really believed in what he was saying. I felt sorry for the smelly bloke. Then he started blurting about his 'responsibilities' and I thought STF you little twat and had to put my foot down referred him to those that pay him (taxpayers) as in my judgement he was a fake trying to live a good life off the backs of others. It stinks, really stinks.
People like that are considered abhorrent by myself and the people that work with me. These types take money from those that genuinely need it but cannot claim because they lack capacity, and/or lack the ability to fight for what should be legally theirs. Makes me very angry when people like me and you have to work to support those that can work but refuse to work as they could not careless and are selfish to the core.
Aye, they can afford to amuse themselves actually using taxis, eating out, going to events, etc, etc whereas people like me that have to work, pay rent, bills, food, travel to work costs, taxes, NI, insurance, etc are on the whole unable to do that.
I'm all for a safety net for those that need it but too many are too easily allowed to get away with not working and give the genuine claimants a bad name.
FYI, not only do I work for a living to support myself and my BF but we both also volunteer our time to help the elderly and the genuinely frail.
