Sweets were for weekends, too  

The swinging 60's .... with coal milk hardware groceries delivered by horse and cart .... they were everywhere as were cobbles and gas lights looking back at some of the pictures it really wasn't all that swinging!

I never played "Hedge Hoping" I played all the others though and  I played Peever.

We always wall walked  , leaping over gates and drives, its much more elaborate now and called Parkour ( free running, my grandkids did it in Glasgow ( but a safe place) they had no idea I did it as a kid.

It's not brilliant, it's just typical of the bigoted ignorance you read on the internet, but admittedly a recurring theme.

  The illnesses you listed were unheard of in your world because it was not the done thing to talk about them. And look at the number of historic abuse cases only recently coming to light because society in general didn't want to listen at the time. Sorry, but you and many others in their middle age are trying to revive their own youth with a fantasy of how wonderful life was at the time - I lived it too and the reality didn't correspond to the illusions that people seem to have. And as for the belief that modern teenagers have it easy and are effectively useless is part of the same blinkered blindness - they don't and they aren't.

Disagree with what?     Nobody said kids today have it easy.  But they don't have it that hard either.  Today, there's more help and societal resources for young people than there's ever been.  Let's take mental health issues.   Years ago, you'd have been bunged in an asylum for depression, never mind autism, which was never even understood back then.  It took until 1980 for autism to be differentiated from other mental health conditions.  If you were slow at school, or had learning difficulties you were sat at the back of the class and ignored.   Teachers abused pupils.  Kids died from illnesses they don't die from now.  There were no rights in the workplace.  Homosexuality was illegal.   The list is endless.
