Why do people troll?

I jokingly suggested once if people had to use their own recent pic and first name that would cut down the trolling on forums, the usual suspects were not very happy with the idea though.

It would work, but I think many places would be much quieter.

Because they are pathetic cowards hiding behind a screen and have nothing else to do but try to upset/intimidate other people on forums to make themselves feel good.

Is there a difference between trolling and online abuse?

It seems to me that it is not just anonymous posters that do it. But the problem with anonymous posters is claiming they are someone else and triggering others including forum members to pile in. It almost looks like some of these anonymous posters were forum members.

Sometimes just for fun, out of jealousy or if a posters face doesn't fit. If it's a couple of posters having a ruck that's one thing, but other 'guests' jump on the bandwagon, making crap up.

If an owner or mod is trolling nobody speaks up which is pretty sad too.

You are a very prolific poster over quite a few forums, so I guess you are right on the the jet set lifestyle part.

Places that have guest posting will attract all sorts so it's a bit of a wonder why there's moaning about it. If you don't want trolls make it member posting only.

Posts get through if a member has fallen out of favour. Dogs is more protective of members than here , why posters have to come here to have their say

What do you want me to do. get all defensive and pretend some alternate lifestyle. Quite happy to say my life is the usual humdrum one that most people have.

And who's moaning. Just wondering what motivates trolls. Perhaps you could tell us.
