Most people love a good scare, from rollercoaster rides to horror fillums.  What floats your boat?

It Follows - takes a lot to give me the willies but this one is creepy. The thought of something coming for you, irrevocable and unstoppable, is scary.  There's definitely a nod to Night of the Demon - the passing on of the curse that instigates the entity stalking the victim.   Nobody but the victim can see it, and it can take the form of anyone so you never know who it is.

When it was revealed that Robert Pattinson would be the next Batman I was like...Oh please....!   But from the trailer he looks as though he's pulled it off, and after watching him in The Lighthouse, I think he's going to be a good one!

Dune is a sci fi classic but the 1984 version, though stylish and beautifully shot with amazing sound design, was a bit like eating a mouthful of dead sea fruit.   Hopefully, the latest version will stick more to the book and be less confusing.    You really had to be Dune fan to understand the David Lynch version.  And I'm loving the look of Beast Rabban!

The Cell.  I love this movie.   Visually, it's a treat.  Plotwise, pretty good.   Jennifer Lopez was bit to goody goody for my liking but Vincent D'Onofrio just nails it.

The Ritual - from a book by Adam Nevill    This guy writes some really really creepy stuff.  The movie had a slightly different more upbeat ending.

I thought Hellraiser was a good horror.

Antichrist starring Willem Dafoe is very eerie.

There are far, far too many to name but for films made over the last few years I watched Don't Breathe, A Quiet place, The Witch and Get out on Film4 and they were all excellent, modern classics in their own very different ways.

The claustrophobic atmosphere of The Witch in particular was superb.

I have yet to watch The Babadook which is another one that comes highly recommended and so does It Follows as Digs said.

I rarely watch slasher movies but caught the tail end of I spit on your Grave a few weeks ago.   When violent rapists get their just desserts, one can't help but exult....

Over 98 years old - and still one of the greatest figures in all of horror history.

Literally walking death incarnate - fuck sparkly 'cute' vampires, I want pestilence, darkness and savagery!

Just got round to finally watching The Babadook, a beautifully crafted film with a subtext about the horror of mortality, mourning and pain.

Excellent stuff.

I thought Boxing Helena was pretty good - quite artistic in fact. I was expecting a horror movie but it wasn't like that.

There were many excellent horrors in the 1980's (The Shining, The Thing, The Hitcher, The Howling, An American Werewolf in London, The Evil Dead 1&2, Poltergeist, Re-Animator, Aliens, The Fly, Fright Night, the first Nightmare on Elm Street, Society etc, ) but the original Hellraiser (to which Barker sold the rights straight afterwards hence the endless sequels) with it's themes of flesh, decomposition, obsessive love, the extremes pain and pleasure and more was a film I always found particularly fascinating hence my current avatar.

Clive is currently fighting to get the rights back and plans a direct sequel much like Halloween has recently done which will ignore all the other films so I hope he wins. happy

I liked Hellraiser but I'm not a massive fan of Clive Barker.   I can't stand James Herbert's work either.

Herbert always seemed to over sexualise his books and I'm not into reading random wank fests littering my horror novels ragga

I'm a huge fan of Adam Nevill.  And Michael McDowell, so is sadly deceased now.   Both write hugely creepy stories.

Yeah no matter what the story Herbert always stuck in a blowjob/fuck scene just for the hell of it.

I need to catch up with King, I am about ten novels behind now.
