Some kids love it though....some (mine) love the expectation of seeing him in his grotto and getting a pressie, but actually waiting in a line then going up to him as he beckons....they suddenly are not so struck....and the knee sitting was always refused.

Look what I've got for you in my grotto little boy!

The most magical Father Christmas visit ime was when I was a kid, with all the advanced technology I never saw anything as good when my son, then my grandsons were small.
I think it was in Lewis's store (now long gone) in town.
We alighted a carriage, the door was closed, and through the opposite window snow scenes were moving along and scenery was changing as we were driven to Santas Grotto.....being a kid I thought the coach was actually moving.
It beat queuing in line and being shepherded along by a bored looking elf.

That sounds wonderful.

Had that ride in CO-OP here. I thought the same as a kid of course. I'm sure pretty much all young kids would have.

The idea was fabulolous, can you imagine with all the advances how magical it could be now.....I never found one in more recent times.
We did do the Santa express steam train journey with son and grandson in Wales a few times, that was nice too.

Imagine how much that ride in those shops cost to have installed. A lot back then. It would have been state of the art.
