A Covid-denying conspiracy theorist who refused to wear a face mask died a day after testing positive for the virus.

Gary Matthews, 46, had been ill for around a week before testing positive for coronavirus on January 12. He died alone in his flat in Shrewsbury, Shropshire the next evening, according to the Guardian. 

Mr Matthews, who exercised regularly, is understood to have told a local conspiracy theorist that he suffered from asthma - though his family said they were not aware of his condition and suggested he may have kept an inhaler on him to exempt himself from wearing a mask.

They insist that he did not believe Covid-19 was real, and would not adhere to government pandemic measures including social distancing and mask mandates. 

Other conspiracy theorists claim Mr Matthews may have killed himself, the Guardian reports. However, an autopsy has not taken place.  

Britain has recorded more than 100,000 Covid-related deaths, with scientists claiming the victims could have been reduced if the government had taken tougher action earlier in the pandemic. 

Mr Matthews' cousin Tristan Copeland said he had begged him to wear a mask and maintain social distance. 

'But he and his friends had the mindset that they needed to go out and meet people to show they didn't believe the government,' he said.

He called Mr Matthews 'quite shy' and was 'led astray' by conspiracy theorists he found on Facebook groups.

Anti Vaxers and conspiracy theorists have been and will continue to be the cause of thousands more needless deaths, I dont know how they can live with themselves.

If you are stupid enough to disbelieve the virus is deadly, and you don't trust the vaccine....keep away from others and keep your bloody opinions to yourselves.

Anti-vaxxers must be thrilled at all the publicity coming from Germany that the Oxford A/Z vaccine shouldn't be given to anyone over 65.
Our scientists say it's perfectly safe and has good protection no matter what age.
Given that the Germans are peeved because the UK has not given them as much as they want....ulterior motive springs to mind.

 I don't know any anti-vaxxers who are thrilled with people dying or being injured by vaccines.  The reason we are anti-vax is due to that very thing.   I do love though how you are seeing a CT from the other side, but never this side. 

 

I can give to link after link of people dying or injured by the covid vaccines, but you and the others won't look at them and only feel for those who get covid.  Crazy old world isn't it. 

 

I sleep very well by the way because I look at both sides and do my best to get people to see only one side is given a platform.  The injuries and deaths from these vaccines cannot stay hidden for long, unlike with babies, they cannot blame SIDS or parents. 

 

 

 if they die from anything in the last months it’s definitely covid. But if they die within hours of a vaccine it’s definitely not a vaccine.   

With covid any vulnerable, end of life or very elderly who die is unacceptable and we have to be locked away to protect them. . With the vaccine, these people were end of life, elderly or vulnerable and its to be expected. bored How do you not see the contradictions?

Exactly - they are just pissed off because our vaccination rates are so much higher than anywhere else in Europe.

They want our vaccine before they've finished vaccinating us!  If we hadn't left EU we would have be been at the bottom of the pile.  So glad we left the nasty lot behind.

They will be thrilled with the publicity that the EU has said the vaccine may not be suited for over 65's. They have backtracked now so all is well.

You can't give link after link of people dying or injured by the Covid vaccines because there simply has not been enough time to prove  the vaccination is causing many deaths or injuries.

There will no doubt be a minority of people who have a bad reaction, just as there are people who have a bad reaction to eating nuts or cheese, or the flu vaccine, or the vaccine may react with certain medicines or allergies, so obviously before a person is vaccinated they should speak to their medics if they have previous history.

Well over 2 million people have died globally with this virus, without the vaccination programme many more millions will die. If you are happy with that, and happy to spread false info that no doubt some feeble minded will take note of, do it somewhere else, because I for one wont allow anymore false info to come onto this site.

Very well said Syl, so far the proportion of people who have had a severe adverse reaction from the various vaccines is absolutely tiny - only 2.5 per million with Moderna's for example.
