They don't make them like him anymore.  He was a great rock beside the queen.  He's been there all my life.  I hope this doesn't bring the queen down now, she will be lost without him. He had a good innings, now time to rest.

Sad...but inevitable, he was just a couple of months off 100 years old, so he has had a very long and full life.

I imagine the queen will definitely be feeling so lost right now. You can't share your life for 70 odd years with someone and not feel like you have lost part of yourself when they are no longer there.

I am surprised the BBC haven't been more condemnatory at his memory.   They always said people like him were racist and responsible for institutional racism.   They have called Winston Churchill a racist and supported the removal of his statue.  They have said Meghan Markle is a victim of racism within the palace and are full of elderly people stuck in their traditional British racist views.  They have said the British National Anthem is racist and refused to play it at the BBC Proms.  We know that the English Flag and English Nationalism has for a long time been presented as the iconography of racism.  Yet in the BBC coverage of his passing so far they have been strangely silent on this - something they have invested time and money in pushing.

He was old school and whatever he said he said it with a twinkle in his eye, I think the Monarchy is an anachronism in the 21st century but the two Royals I do really respect are Phil and Liz.

He will be greatly missed - although not by the virtue signallers and terminally offended brigade.

Maybe they realise that quite rightly, now is not the time to dwell on negativity about his life.

Very true Syl, and it was a different time aswell.

I liked him, he's always been there since I can remember, as has the queen.

I feel really sad for the Queen. All those years with someone and then they're gone.

The Duke reminded me a little of my late GrandFather. Old school. A positive person with a great personality. Some jokes were maybe a tad risky. But I don't think he meant any harm. Most of the old school fella's don't mean harm. I suspect he was kind and really quite caring behind the scenes.

RIP

Very sad that the duke has gone, but he looked very ill when he came out of hospital

RIP
