Latest scam is receiving a text supposedly from son saying they have lost their phone....OH got a similar text yesterday.

Be on the lookout. We didn't fall for it, but we did think it may be genuine at first.

Some people have been tricked into parting with money thinking they are helping their kids out.

 They wasn't walking anywhere though.lol

The scam is the 'son' has lost their mobile phone and the scammer texts a new number for the dad to text back on.

Then bogus son asks dad to help tide him over till he can sort his stuff out with insurance people...the dad in the link lost £2000.

We didn't even text son back on the new number. We texted his partner to see if he had really had his phone stolen, he hadn't.

It was just a daft reply for an equally daft scam.

They have so many scams up their sleeves, just have to stay one step ahead all the time.

I thought how cruel it would be if someone who had lost their son or daughter opened a text that started with 'Hi dad'.

Why didn't you just call him on his phone?

he's either answer or someone else who found the phone would. If your son hadn't a screen lock on it?

There's an old saying about a fool and his money.

Scammers are crafty, that's how they get away with it.
Calling someone a fool because he was tricked is a bit harsh.
