The coolest thing on social media these days may be celebrities and regular folks plunging into frigid water or taking ice baths.
The touted benefits include improved mood, more energy, weight loss and reduced inflammation, but the science supporting some of those claims is lukewarm.
Kim Kardashian posted her foray on Instagram. Harry Styles has tweeted about his dips. Kristen Bell says her plunges are “brutal” but mentally uplifting.

So I'm thinking about the woman that may have fallen in the river, and how some folks believe that healthy people can't handle the shock of that event.
People do it every day, and there appears to be some benefit to doing so.
Would you do it?
I hate being cold, but I'm considering cryotherapy for my inflammation and old ass joints hurting some of the time..

My general feelings is that ice is good for whiskey drinks, not humans.
That being said, it's excellent for swelling, inflammation and pain..

You need to look to your gut health. That's the seat of a lot of inflammation...the food we eat. A good remedy for aching joints is to liquidise fresh ginger, skin and all, in with some cranberry juice, strain and drink about 50mls a day. Take is as spicy as you can. It really does help.

I do that. I also eat turmeric in my food and supplement it and fish oil.
I'm on an anti inflammatory diet for the most part. Almost no red meat, no processed meats and lots of health fats like avocados.
I think if I plunged into ice cold water, I would have a heart attack. I am one of those people that takes 5 minutes to have the nerve to dip down in a cold (ish) sea or pool. So to answer the OP question....No.

I think that's the conventional wisdom because of folklore or something like that..
People do it everyday and if your heart is healthy, it doesn't seem to cause problems..
Now I'm still not interested in jumping into ice water, but cryotherapy intrigues me..
I think women do it for their skin now too. I guess men who care about such things could also.

The night after I had a hip replacement, the nurse put a huge ice pack on my hip...it was fabulous, and I am sure it helped with the inflammation and swelling.
Unfortunately, it the night, as it had melted, the bloody bag burst and I woke up freezing cold and sopping wet...that didn't help the joint much.

Yes, I have reusable packs I can put under my back when it's acting stupid..
And I do stretching. Dead hangs are my favorite stretch for my back and my shoulder.

I just want a little extra. 😉
Sadly, we can't beat aging into submission.
Nope, but we can beat it's pace back a little. That's all I'm trying to do.

My bathroom shelf, with lots of beauty pots and potions, would contradict that statement.
